Eberious
@Hexenes, lol and thanks. @Terminatorinhell, all done, got a bit side tracked. I got a bit to much 40k and burned out, leaving me with little motovation. Then they have to go and release space hulk. So been playing that and painting the minis fom there. Anyways, like the title says, got the modelling done on Odin and his jetbike. And Freya with assault cannon and Thor with a big nasty hammer. These guys will make up the command squad so are armed with whatever weapons that I'm able to take. Odin. Gave Odin a helmet 1. saftey first, and 2. save money. http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC04167.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC04166.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC04169.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC04171.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC04172.jpg Thor. http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC04293.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC04292.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/171670-the-gods-of-war/page/4/#findComment-2121615 Share on other sites

I took some serious effort to get that chopped, cut and files to fit. I finished these guys like 2 weeks ago, but just now got around to post, C&C welcome. twigggy
Personally I would prefer if you armed thor with a massive 2-handed thunder hammer held in 2 powerfists, also give him loads of bionics, since I've played too human on the 360 I've had a few predisposures to norse gods, also I wondered if you could name your vehicles after miscellaneous monsters, IE: Manegarm for your megaraider. Also, I would recommend giving Freya powered armour instead and counting her as a SoB canoness, since fluffwise you're more likely to find out bill gates is secretly the emperor than have female space marines in the galaxy. I can understand the massive thunder hammer and I may ell re-model him to have one, but why 2 P-fists as well?. Don't think they would be allowed to count as anything but his hands, I'm guessing just for added coolness. I might just take you up on that idea. As for Freyja I don't technically stick to fluff, in fact not in any real kinda way when it comes to modelling. Eberious
Okdokey, ell twigggy I'm glad I chose to try out your idea(can't say why it didn't dawn on me to do it, so I'm a little worried) and will admit it was a rushed model, so thanks for making me aware I can do better than what I did. So with some re-modelling under way I got to work on the hammer first. So far I am very happy with the hammer and pose. Will probably make his left fist a P-fist but a standard SM one, will try and see what both look like but it might be to much...wait?.... did I just say to much ...LOL Anyways, this is where I've got to. General shot. http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC04438.jpg Pics focused on hammer. http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC04439.jpg C&C please. Eberious
No can do Retributis. I don't have another forgeworld torso section to use instead of what I have, as its got to match the walking version of Odin. Or I would of used it, only prob is tat the FW sculpt islooking in the wrong direction of the pose I wanted. Also makes sence to have a helmet on when speeding along on a bike let alone a super jetbike like the MotRW's one. :D Anyways I like it, ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/171670-the-gods-of-war/page/4/#findComment-2126014 Share on other sites
Terrible_Trygon
Leave the helmet on. there ain't enough love for the termie helmet. Everyone wants to file them into Grey Knights these days. As for Freya, leave her the way she is too. A female marine at the end of the day will look very close to a male marine, minus the junk. They should use all the same equipment fine. Eberious
Cheers Terrible_Trygon, I love the Terminator helmet. I do admit to making one or two GK style helmets but only ever used one of them. With Freyja, TBO I find SOB a bit sexist, small, trim, tight fitting armour designd to show of a womans curves and boobs that wouldn't really have any real protection against the vast array of weapons in the 40k uni. Big chunky Terminator armour on the other hand,.. well as you all know. Anyways here's the re-modelled Thor, got to say looking pretty bad ass and way better than my first attempt. http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC04443.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC04445.jpg Built up a little hammer with wings & jewel on the right shoulderpad. http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC04444.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC04448.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC04447.jpg Sorry for pic heavy. Dexter Kong
If this is a dumb question, forgive me, I'm not entirely up-to-date on the current product line, but what model is his hammer head from? I love the new Thor though. My only criticisms at the moment are that the Ork head on the base seems to be a little awkward, like it's waiting to roll off the side. Also, the top of his armor, between the wing crest decorations, seems a bit lonely and barren. Small concerns on an amazing model. I can't begin to imagine how long it took you to get all those hammer shaft segments to line up properly. Eberious
@Retributis, lol, yeah a great big cuddly teddy of DEATH!!!! @Dexter Kong, thanks very much. No probs, the hammer head itself isnt an actual hammer head from any production model, it's from this part of a COD building. http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/newhammer.jpg Cut away the excess, remove the light, give it some battle damage (and in the words of gordon ramsey).."Hammer head.. done" Agreed on the ork head, will be replacing it with a ork skull. He does have a necklace but is swinging off in the other direction. Want to leave some open area for when I paint the main colour and markings on. That and I don't have anything to stick on the area. But I know what you mean. The hammer shaft itself, and I'll be honest after I cut it into the shaft to fit in the hand and cut off the rubbish part of the grip, it took me about 5 minutes to put it all back together as you see it. The hammer shaft comes in 6 parts, 7 if you include the little skull topping(cap) and 8 altogether if you count the hammer head itself. Tee-hee, yes  lol. @Thunder_god, no probs. http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/Image743.jpg 1.A auspex end, just the bottom bit with the ring clip. 2.Thunder hammer shaft. 3.T-hammer grip, cut to fit. 4.Standard SM left hand(JP assualt box I think) 5.T-hammer upper shaft with power box, the ring here is also from an auspex. 6.T-hammer power box. 7.Random bit of plastic cut and filed to fit. 8.Skull off the bottom of a T-hammer. All just cut to fit and stuck together. I just made sure that the ends that I was going to glue were filed flat and flush with each other. Then once glued in place if they were slightly off just bent them the tinyest amount to get stright. Still to greenstuff back in the wires near his right hand. Oh, almost forgot, had to cut the hand away from the wrist armour, twisted it and re-attach the hand and greenstuffed back in that little bit of armour that come out over the top of the hand. Muller
I'm loving the idea, and frankly, I've been toying with the idea myself a long time before I saw this to make a proper viking-feeling Space Wolves army featuring some of the gods as the Veterans/HQ. I guess that's out the window now :) Great stuff. I'd lost the wings though; makes them look a tad less brutal than for my taste. Last but not least, where the heck is odin's two ravens (Hugin and Munin)? The bionic eye supposed to make up for odin giving up his left eye for wisdom or just coincidence? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/171670-the-gods-of-war/page/4/#findComment-2133947 Share on other sites
