Red Scorpion side project

So what started out as a small house army for skirmishes against my own nids has grown into a substantial force of its own. As a nid player I was enraptured with the images and themes of Anphelion Project, and dedicated myself to creating the forces required to play the scenarios listed in the back of that book.

Well, then my local gaming center hosts a Badab War campaign, and my RS forces have to expand a bit to participate. You have seen the little plog for my Vanguard Squad: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...p;#entry1932807

Anyway, here's the story so far, leading up to what I'm actually working on now:

Thank you Shadows. They're all washed in Badab Black, but I agree many of them need more highlighting. And better photography on my part.

Finished six more tacs, completing two full squads with a couple weapons options:

These are all very good indeed but my favourite for sheer inherent comedy is that Termie with the outstretched powerfist - looks like he's about to deliver the mother of all slappings!

After reading this..one thing popped in my head... "WHERE'S MY MONEY!?!" *pimpslap!*

i cant say much about the accuracy because i do not own the book but i can say that this army looks amazing!

the painting is great! but i think the glow effect you tried (i think its meant to be glowing, yeah?) on the combi plasma marine has not worked well.

not that im any good at painting, myself but i fell it does not look right.

the look and shape of the other combi weapons are great.

+_+

Thanks for the input everyone. I agree the plasma glow needs work, and I'll be going back to retouch all the armor highlighting.

On resin and metal I use the GW foundation grey color first.

The base color is Reaper Armor Grey, and the yellow is GW Iandyn Darksun (sp?). Darker grey lowlights and two stages of lighter grey highlights are basic Ceramcoat craft paints. Badab Black wash. Other colors are all GW standards (blood red, boltgun, etc.)

My attention has turned back to my nids temporarily. When I do get back to the Scorpions again, I'll finish up some termies, and all my vehicles.

Here we go, an actual work in progress!

Just some minor mods to an Ironclad; chopped and rebuilt the left leg:

What font did u use for the decal saying "Rael"?

I did a google for gothic fonts, and found Black Night for free. Just place it in that system folder (I forget which one atm) so that your word processor can use it.

Per the Badab Campaign rules, Commander Culln may have a Terminator Command Squad. The fancy new models in Space Hulk are a perfect fit!

In fact, the Sergeant makes a decent Culln--at least he actually has a Relic Blade and not the tiny power sword FW gave him:

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h79/aguave5150/DSC03165.jpg

It goes without saying that all the BA icons are cleaned off. They'll be replaced with skulls, eagles, etc. where appropriate.

The Command Squad Apothecary is below. He's the perfect model for this, as kneeling is a traditional pose for customized Apothecaries... and I had absolutely no need for a dude ripping up the floor:

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h79/aguave5150/DSC03167.jpg

His left arm will be a kitbash of the plastic apothecary arm.

More to come...
