Captain Culln - Which Arms?

UltraRich

Recommended Posts

Ive picked up the Captain Culln body for my Ultra army and already removed the scorpion.

What I need to do now is pick the right arms but Its a tough decision.

Ignore the head as its just there for show

Any comments on below

I like the first option to be honest.. But the way the model is designed, his legs drive me insane.

For some reason i would like to see his chest/head facing towards his left.

Otherwise it looks like he's striking some sort of strange pose or trying to hitch hike by showing his leg.

I like the powerfist and powersword combo. It looks more natural than the TH.

I've also never liked the look of lightning claws, they're way too bulky. Maybe they'll remodel them one day to look more Predator claw style, they just look very unweildy. :P

Thanks guys

I think its going to be sword and powerfist then

As its been converted to my Ultra Army I think Ill shave the eagles heads off the breast plate to make it a winged scull.

I'll start tonight and post my progress

The other one I use which is slightly cheaper on some things but doesnt seem to carry as many spares is this one

I just spent £25 on bits an bobs to finish my Terminators and land speeders... problem is as your browsing you get the "that would be cool and its only 80p" syndrome. Before you know it you have bought 30 things for 80p :D

@ Eberius

I've used bitzbox loads for plastics (they always seem to be out of stock of forgeworld) and always had quick delivery. Last order got put in about 7:30am (paid with paypal) and it arrived next day. Only had one order with the wrong bit (a 40mm round base delivered instead of 40mm square one I ordered) and after a quick email they sent out the square one free of charge. If its out of stock on a part you can email a request and usually get a reply on when its due in. I'll certainly be buying again (and again ....) from them.

I've not ordered off bits and kits but they always seem to have more forgeworld bits in stock.

Id use both Bitz sites again

In fact Ive just placed an order for more Terminator bits and some commander spares

AngryJohnny, its the skull face off the Command squad standard top Click here

I tried a couple of others but they were too small, in hindsight Im not sure if this is too big.

Since the earlier pics Ive shaved the eagles head and feet off as I thought they looked odd against the scull.

This still needs cleaning up but you get the idea

Ive managed to spend some time on the two terminators and the except for the final highlights the eagles are done.

I dont know what everyones experience of Forgeworld items is but I found painting both the eagle and cullns face a challange. The mould or sculpt is much more severe than that of GW to the point where the eagles feathers are almost square and not semetrical. This made the eagle look odd when highlighted. I had to give it a wash to tone it down.

It was the same with the face. Because the eyes even had eyelids I had a bit of a mare painting it. This will need to be fixed later as Im not happy with it. I may even go to a standard head instead.

On the plus side the removal of the scorpion and eagle and replacement with the skull went well

I might see if I can get hold of the stock bolter arm at some point then and go for the standard firing position with him looking to his right.

I was going to go for the option A (see top of thread) stance but Ive had an issue with the sword. Because its resin and not plastic its not as solid and one minute both parts of the hand guards were there, the next they werent! I amy have to make new ones or go for the sleek look

Just a quick update on this WIP

I finally gave in and bought the Forge World Culln helmeted head and bolter arm.

After sorting out the scorpion on the Bolter I think its come up pretty well

I had to replace the sword after breaking both resin hand guards off but Im pleased with how it turned out and personally think it looks better chunky (see earlier photos)

Ive also been cracking on with my other terminator although Im in dilemma what colour to paint the thunder hammer. Has anyone any examples.

This made me laugh. Ive just finished one of my scouts with a Candian head swap (these look great, more to come) and had it on the side with both Terminators.

I think the comment "you and whos army?" springs to mind
