My Blood Ravens. (Bit Pic Heavy)

Those are the wings from the Empire Standard Bearer plastic kit from WFB.

Since I've been on B&C for far longer then I have posted, I remember first seeing the Chapter Champion and gasping. It is indeed magnificent work, one of my favourite champions of all time.

How I did the wings on the chapter champion must be the question I get asked more than any other question! (Other then, how to paint red.)

I cannot take credit for the idea of the conversion, I was inspired by nothing less than a Games workshop web article

You can find it here,

"This is where we fight. This is where THEY die."

Comments, critques welcome. I'm trying to crank my models out a bit faster atm, getting tired of having so much unpainted on the battlefield. So I'm starting to cut a few corners with the basic infantry models! :)

Also this new light in my apartment sucks, and is obscuring a lot of the highlights.

My girlfriend bought a 'cool' light, and it is mucking up the photos, but hiding the bleached bone highlights, and reflecting off white really badly.

Astounding paintjob, though I think they look far too "new". Those suits and vehicles have been in use for hundreds or even thousands of years - I personally like to add lots of wear and tear to both my loyalist and traitor marines.

That being said, the work is still phenomenal. You've got definite skill.

I'm the opposite. I made a deliberate choice when I started my marines to make everything look new.

Sure, they are hundreds of years old, but does that mean they dont retouch the paint up between campaigns? The armor and tanks are sacred, so I imagine between every campaign they get fully rebuilt/repaired and repainted.

The Horus Heresy novels have space marines constantly painting and polishing their armor and buffing it while on their battle barges.

So this is meant to be a space marine force just about to start a crusade, while everything is still new.

I've looked at these models several times now and each and every time I remain stunned. I love the Blood Ravens, first chapter I was ever exposed to in Dawn of War and easily my favorite chapter. Excellent job on the highlights and the modeling, everything looks natural and I love the color of red you used, especially how it has more of an earthy feel to it compared to the much cleaner feel that some models have.

"A hero was he, Touching all our lives

As if he lived and died in a single moment

Great were his deeds, all his words were true

He lived and died, a man of honor.

He paid with his life

For his life was the price

To pass the gates immortal "

All hail and remember, brother Thule, bane of Tyranids.

And, my assault terminator squad is now finished. Veterans of the Seige of Monach IV, and several Space Hulk Incursions.

In rewards for their prowess they were fashioned master crafted shields.

"Onward pounding into glory ride

Sign of the hammer, be my guide

Final warning all stand aside

Sign of the hammer, it's my time!"
