Calico
http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa8/hobbes70790/1-1.jpg Getting back into it after 10 years of complete abandonment, i might as well be starting for the first time all over again ( i was 13 back then... ) anyway, assembling a dark angels army to start back up on tabletop and this is my first completed model, looking for a critique ( i can handle an honest one without getting defensive, also any tips to better myself are GREATLY appreciated ). as a side note: if the AoBR wasn't such a screamin' deal for fleshing out an army i would complain more about how much it sucks that the models are so... unconfigurable. To say the least. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/172230-aobr-sm-captain/ Share on other sites
Hfran Morkai
Nice work especially after a 10 year break. I don't think I can comment on it as that is better than my best quality jobs. Keep up the good work. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/172230-aobr-sm-captain/#findComment-2035346 Share on other sites
Chapter Master Gabriel
Good work, even after ten years it seems your painting skills 'froze' heh heh. I agree on the models in AoBR - I was hoping to turn them into extra devastators - silly me. More pics plz. MRCHAOS
Thats a good start, I also came back to the hobby after about 10 years or so, after a while you will become a lot better and look back at these and think hmmmm test mini's for other paint scheme's. ;) Get painting some more, and get them terminators done :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/172230-aobr-sm-captain/#findComment-2035919 Share on other sites
Calico
Terminators are headed into the assembly line when i get off work tonight. but i gotta run by the hobby shop first and see if i can't find a pack of shoulders ( curse AoBR and its permanent shoulders ). I'll throw a few more photos of the SM Captain and some WIP shots of the marines up as well. Calico
Few more shots of the captain. i'm thinking i'll change the chords on his chest to a redder brown. As always C&C is appreciated http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa8/hobbes70790/_IGP9499.jpg 3/4 http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa8/hobbes70790/_IGP9498.jpg Side http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa8/hobbes70790/_IGP9497.jpg Back http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa8/hobbes70790/_IGP9505.jpg SM Captain with 2 Tac Squards (WIP) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/172230-aobr-sm-captain/#findComment-2036953 Share on other sites

To say the least. Thats a good looking squad If its not too late to mod them I found a couple of ways to mod the static marines to give them a slightly different pose/head http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f372/rbrewster101/aobr.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/172230-aobr-sm-captain/#findComment-2038158 Share on other sites
spjaco
Awesome to see someone other than a scout use a shotgun on a model! Painting is top notch as well. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/172230-aobr-sm-captain/#findComment-2038160 Share on other sites
Runebeard
Nice work on the greens - good smooth highlighting form the looks of things. I know how you feel about starting again after a very long break and about the models in the AoBR set. My only advice, (which could be wrong as you may already be doing it, so I'll visit an optician,) is that the bleached bone looks a tad thick in some places, so I'd recommend thinning it out a little more and doing a few lighter layers just so it looks a little smoother. Other than that nice work my friend. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/172230-aobr-sm-captain/#findComment-2039731 Share on other sites
