Hotspur
What are your opinions on the LRE, guys? I have one unassembled in the box still, and I'm trying to figure out if I want to put it together or sell it and get something "better." One thing about the LRE now, is that it is armed w/ something called the 'Exterminator Autocannon,' a HEAVY 4 s7, ap4 heavy-infantry-mowing-gun of goodness. Combine that w/ 3 HB and a SB, and you get 15 shots. I'm pretty up in the air about it; that new AC sounds awesome, but I'm just wondering if the points are better spent elsewhere? hendrik
well the imperial guard version rocks, but ours is still like the old one so not that supershooty and we're not sure wether it'll be in the next dex or not Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/172257-leman-russ-exterminator/#findComment-2035617 Share on other sites
Vassakov
Unfortunately that's Guard only. Which is why I've decided that the LRE I picked up in a trade has to go to my Traitor Guard, as with the current SW rules for them I just can't justify it. Heres hoping I can pick another up for the Wolves come next year. Warhorse47
Mine has served very well and I like to use it regularly. Just remember what it's job is and make sure you use it for cover and remember it can use cover too. If you decide to trade yours off, pm me. LoneSniperSG
My LRE has lived up to its points. I like using it with my Space wolves, because it scares the hell out of people when I say I'm fielding a Leman Russ. They automatically jump to thinking of facing a battle cannon, not a weaker, bullet-spewing thing. The only thing to really note about the LRE is that it costs as much as a Land Raider to field. Best to take the LRE in a big game, where it will be well-shielded by infantry and rhinos, and its points cost won't put a grenade in your cereal. Unfortunately that's Guard only. Which is why I've decided that the LRE I picked up in a trade has to go to my Traitor Guard, as with the current SW rules for them I just can't justify it. Heres hoping I can pick another up for the Wolves come next year. Or just keep the one you have dedicated to Russ, and just wait and see. For cripes sake, the Blood Angels still have their farking Baal Pred. Our Exterminator isn't much different from it. The Voice
The thing i like most about the exterminator is the fact itgs armour 14 at the front and BS4 pay the 15pts for a lascannon and it becomes pritty versitile. Its high points are a big disadvantage, but if they change the autocannon rules to be the same as the guard one it will rock. It tends to become a shot magnet when facing horde armys - which is one thing i love about it as its mass anti personnel weaponary scares the green out of orks (common foe) and they tend to fire most of their rokits at it meaning my lighter armoured IFVs and MBTs remain unscathed. It is in my opinnion an awesome terror weapon and not as large and intimidating a target as a Land Raider - meaning you can use it defensivly and get lots of obscurred saves! On another note its called LEMAN RUSS!! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/172257-leman-russ-exterminator/#findComment-2036274 Share on other sites
Torin
well i think the LR rocks.. but unfortunate for us we cant use the new heavy 4 autocanon.. but given the choice to take a tank, land raider would be a better option since pts wise is pretty much the same. But i does look cool on the table though. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/172257-leman-russ-exterminator/#findComment-2036285 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
Its a wonderful vehicle... but unless Im really hurting for heavy support choices it would be cheaper, shootier, and more survivable *arguably* to take a pair of 85pt predators eh?
