UM Chaplain and Experiments

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone.

Its been a long time since i last posted anything but finaly got motivated to take some pictures. I am very very slow at painting so its not much, just a chaplain and some random marines. The marines are experiments using different paints ect.

Hope you all like them. C&C would be greatly appreciated!.

Thanks for the replys. The two models on the left and right are both 90's metal models. Hence the "old school" look ^_^

Thought i would try and get better pics so here goes:

Hi Smoking Bolters,

I really like your chaplain! He looks great. A few ideas for improvement: try to highlight the bone a bit more (for example do a 1:1 mix of Skull White & Bleached Bone) and also perhaps work a bit more on the Ultramarines symbol. Use a pencil to draw the shape before you paint

Thank you all for taking the time to reply.

Hi Vadskær, really appreciate the advice!. You are right, the bone does need a bit more work. It was the first time using washes for a bone colour so it was very experimental. I think after the wash of sepia, i used pure bleached bone as a highlight. I will try to lighten it more for extreme highlighting. I was undecided at the time of painting it just how far to take the highlights :teehee:

And yeah your right, the symbols are not very good. I do struggle to keep them uniform. I have resorted to using transfers, which i find even worse!. The UM symbol transfer doesn't seem to have been designed to fit on shoulder pads without creasing due to the curve. I will try using a pencil to mark the design in future, does the pencil line show through the paint though? or does the white cover it well?.
