Can space wolves use combat squads ?

can space wolves use combat squads like regular marines if we want to ?

 

someone asked this at my latest game session , and I didn't know if we could or not . He was a new player and had a space wolves army . I have never used combat squads b4 so it never came up .

No, Space Wolves cannot split into combat squad. Perhaps the new Codex in october will include that rule.

Combat Squads are basically a 'nilla option for making tactical squads (which normally include one special weapon and one heavy weapon) less unwieldy - i.e. one squad takes the special weapon, the other the heavy. That just makes solid, tactical sense.

 

For us Wolves that's never really been a valid option, as we don't have such a strange mix of spec and hvy weapons in one squad to begin with.

 

Also, our minimum squad sizes are small anyway: 6 for GH; 8 for BC (and you often want to field those in squads as large as possible, 9 + Char at the very least to fill a Rhino).

 

Being able to form combat squads as a SW player would serve no purpose whatsoever.
