Sarr
Alright, I admit that I myself am not of the Space Wolves legion. However, the Space Sharks extend their friendship and best brew, in exchange for some help. I use the Wolf codex, and I'm wondering how people feel about Logan Grimnar. I've been thinking about making up a Chapter master, and using him as Counts-As, but I'd like to know if he's at all effective in combat, first. OnlyInDeath
Well, of course he's good. He's not a Calgar, tho he costs the same, so expect a big upgrade coming soon. He really excells with a bodyguard, as he can grant them +1 attack. In addition to that, he's got good saves, and a weapon where you can CHOOSE to go in with power weapon or power fist attacks (with the charge and his howl, you can have 6 (!) PF attacks on the charge. That's nothing to scoff at. But yeah, I've played him a couple times and he's definately rock solid. I cant wait for his upgrade when he becomes nigh on godly, like all new characters with codex creep. The Voice
Tbh Logan is Leman Russ incarnet. His abilitys when hes used in the center of a battleline are awesome. even allies gain the +1 attack due to his ledgendary leadership. we (me and my brother) tend to field specials in apocolypse games only and in the case of grimnar its with a 4 man terminator bodyguard in a land raider (how awesome are they btw - last apoc game ours survived 3 volcano cannon hits - bad rolling but awesome image) he dives into the thick of it and generally turns the tide. dragon950
As far as special rules for chapter masters go, he sucks. But when it comes to his battle skill and items, he's one of the best. Lets say that he goes up against other chapter masters, with the counter-attack rule he still get a +1 bonus even if he gets charged. Both of the chapter master have a 6 weapon skill he hits on a 3+ while the other masters hit on a 4+, plus he has a master crafted weapon. If he hits any of them then he can wound with a 5 strength at int 5 or a 8 strength int 1. Then he has a 2+ armor save or a 4+ inv. save. They just need to change his special rules. Commissar Volker
Massively underpowered and over priced compared to newer edition characters. I still use him in some battles though. Grey Mage
His main problem is simply that he doesnt have eternal warrior, and so is a bit pricey for a guy who can be instakilled by a powerfist. Still, all in all I think hes worth it if your not playing highly competitive tournaments regularly. Hfran Morkai
Don't forget the awesome beard! I really like the model of him as well. And "He's one of the most loved warriors in the Imperium" or something along those lines. And his axe was reforged from a chaos weapon! Demogerg
The only time i ever field Logan is in Apoc when i load up on a 18 man Wolf Guard terminator squad (actually 2 squads of 9, lead each by ragnar and logan) with lots of chainfists, lead by Ragnar, with a vanilla librarian, logan grimnar, and pedro cantor. on the turn i charge into a titan ill use logans ability, pumping the squad up to 6 attacks each, (2 base, +2 for ragnars charging, +1 for pedro, +1 for logan) and I can guarentee you that 99 chainfist attacks will bring down any titan. and if the titan charges into you (lol) then you get 117 chainfist attacks. and yes, i have actually used this to kill titans in apoc. Roguemarine
I found that with the new 5th retinue rules logan is actually plausible in the army, ya he pricey so you almost have to build the army around him. but give him a decent size bodyguard and he will be sure to please.
