Ozybonza
I know the IA:2 book/update has a few alternatve rules for GK Landraiders etc, I was wondering if there are any other publications that give us DH players some more options (other than the DH codex obviously). I read that there are some rules coming out for a GK LR Redeemer in the next Vraks book, but are there any other GK vehicles/characters etc in any other books? Baragash
Whilst not technically a GK, Vraks III is also expected to include Inquisitor Rex. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/172321-grey-knightsforgeworld-question/#findComment-2036419 Share on other sites
Uncle Mel
Probably the razorback as well, everyone who "claims" to have seen the book has not mentioned any real data to go from, but it's definately in there. Grand Master Tyrak
Uncle Mel Posted Today, 11:27 AM Probably the razorback as well, everyone who "claims" to have seen the book has not mentioned any real data to go from, but it's definately in there. Given that Forgeworld lists them as a Grey Knights LR Redeemer and an Ordo Malleus Razorback, the chances of GKs getting it aren't great (thankfully). Uncle Mel
sorry about that but rex isn't a grey knight either, is he? I meant general daemonhunter units. Ozybonza
Hmmm... I wonder if the GK redeemer will get anything better than "Ignore invulnerable saves" for the Inferno-incinerators. Seeing as the redeemers aren't that great anyway and the GK one will probably cost more points, I probably won't be getting one... shame cuz it looks awesome. Thaelion Hexis
Seeing as the redeemers aren't that great anyway Have you had one of those things roll up to you? A Grey Knight army has a hard enough time taking out armour, let alone one that can burn through power armour. DevianID
Redeemers are currently the best land raider out there. I know it seems weird and all, as at first the flamers seem underwhelming. However, if you want something that sits back and shoots, raiders are a terrible option to begin with. The standard raider pales in comparison to 2 combi-preds, who get more shots and are cheaper. You also waste the transport potential when sitting back and shooting. So really you want something that can get up in the enemies face, meaning a redeemer or a crusader. However, thanks to the capacity of 12 in the redeemer, you can get a 5 man THSS squad PLUS 2 combat hqs. So you dont need the extra capacity of the crusader. Then you look at weapons. One has 12 rerollable bolters if you move 6 inches, the other has a s6 ap3 flamers. Considering that s4 attacks suck in 5th edition, and you have to move at HALF SPEED to fire them, you get hit with a double whammy with the crusader--move only 6 inches to fire ineffective weapons with a transport designed to move terminators faster than 6 inches. So, expect to either be sitting still, or moving 12 inches with your raider transports. If you only get one weapon when moving 12, would you rather it be 6 s4 shots, or a s6 ap3 template that can hit 10+ models automaticly? And finally, the redeemer is CHEAPER than either other raider! So back to the OP--I cant WAIT to see a GK LR Redeemer! Ozybonza
Actually, Grey Knights Crusaders can move 12 and fire their bolters + one other weapon (Daemonhunters FAQ) and come with free extra armour and free Multi Melta. They only have Heavy 3, non-rending assault cannons though. The reason I don't like the redeemer is that unless the enemy is in a really bad position, you will only get to fire one of the flamers, and by doing so you will need to position the land raider in a certain way that may not be optimal for the old 12" move, 2" disembark and 6" charge. In a SM army I can see why someone would prefer a redeemer though. GK Crusaders FTW!!!
