Grey Mage
Seriously... when does the Ironclad Dreadnaught come out again? Anyone use one of these lately? Hows it doing for you? Tactics? Outfitting? Conversions? Id like to hear it all. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/172393-ironclads-for-the-iron-wolves/ Share on other sites
Bran Scalphunter
I dunno when they Ironclads are coming out, but I have tried them out. Quite beastly (pun intended) for a Wolf army. :P The "Berserker" as I like to call him, rips everything he gets close to, but seeing as I'm working on infantry armies, I had him slog it with the rest of the packs. I ran as following: Hammer and Dreadnought weapon, twin flamers, Ironclad launchers, twin HKM. The rockets give me a couple extra AA shots against enemy vehicles, supporting my LF packs. The flamers drive the unholy from their warrens as the Berserker and his Blood Claw support charge in, tearing apart the enemy in a frenzy of wolfy death. When I ran into a Ork Armored Krumpany ( no relayshun ter da Green Buh-Rayz ), I used him to engage the enemy armor alongside my Venerable. He did die that game, in an epic duel with 3 Deff Dreadz after he wrecked two and crippled the last before it managed to kill him. Totally worth it in my loud, boisterous opinion. So go git one and start krumpin' da enemiez uv da Imperium ya zogg! Grimfoe
The website has both the Ironclad and the Land Speeder Storm coming out on July 18th. I think the storm will be more effective for us than the ironclad Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/172393-ironclads-for-the-iron-wolves/#findComment-2037278 Share on other sites
Lord Ragnarok
Clads might be better in planetstrike when you are attacking. I was thinking about one in my dp lost but like the savings whe using a regular dread. Grey Mage
Well Im waiting for the weekend so I can try out a DP list with one in it- alongside a vendread and a WGTDA squad as my first wave. I really think the AV 13 will help alot, and the short range weaponry wont hurt so much out of a DP. Godhead
Hey Hendrik, I am having a hard time seeing the right arm.. I was wondering how you converted yours. I am working on a conversion, but instead of a drill/hammer he has a big claw (soul grinder spare parts) I like my wolves to have claws and fangs  As soon as I can get my hands on a working digital camera ill post it up (accidentally ran over my other camera). LoneSniperSG
Clads might be better in planetstrike when you are attacking. .... When do we ever just sit in a bunker and wait for the enemy to attack us? Aren't we always on the offensive? How is that any different from having a planetary drop? Wolf Guard Nostromo
Mine, christened Hagbard, is converted from the FW chaplain dread model, runs with chainfist/flamer/melta and generally arrives by executive drop pod. I have found it very effective as AV13/extra armour can prove quite hard to deal with. Any army that hates flamers, particularly my old xenos pals the eldar, can take real damage from him podding and he has not yet failed to earn his points back. He has also taken the heads of a number of enemy characters and dreads. He recently won a 1k game single handed by meltagunning a chaos lord on arrival, taking tha charge of and subsequently dismantling a chaos dread before shelling a rhino of chaos marines, charging them and running them down as they fled having chopped a couple up. If only he could still drink the ale I bought him after  In larger games I tend to use him in tandem with a 'Bjorn' dread, and as a pair they are very effective. I am looking forward to trying this combo in planetstrike as I think it will be very difficult to stop when attacking... LoneSniperSG
After reading about Ironclads and seeing the new models in WD, man oh man I want one. I can still build my planned Wolf Priest dread into one, I suppose. How about the hurricane bolters? Has anyone used an Ironclad with that arm yet? Best Regards, Valerian With the way we outfit our scouts, it's not inconceivable that they could destroy two tanks and a squad in the first turn. Would be very lucky, but not unheard of. I just envision a full squad of scouts flying out of a storm outfitted with a melta gun, 2 plasma pistols and a couple of power weapons. The storm has an assault cannon or a multi-melta. The storm can shoot one tank, the scouts could shoot a transport and then assault the squad once it disembarks. Likewise, this squad could be used to wipe out some devestators, etc. The storm's effectiveness is tempered somewhat by codex marines inability to access our armory. Our scouts could be truly vicious coming from a storm. Once I have one, I'll probably start fielding two units. One to OBEL and one to come out of a storm. Bran Scalphunter
I don't doubt that they'll be something like an Ironclad in the next book. Might not be exactly the same, but us Wolves will have something along those lines.... right Jervis? *hefts ES, then looks to the bound and gagged JJ in the corner* Yeah, JJ says we'll have an Ironclad in the next book. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/172393-ironclads-for-the-iron-wolves/#findComment-2040305 Share on other sites
Dark Bjoern
I think so. We can use the Ironclaw now, so why shouldn´t we use it with a new ´dex. Oh, and by the way, the Ironclad looks wonderful. Right at this moment i´m assembling the one i bought yesterday.
