DevianID
I just realized that, with the advent of planet strike, the Grey Knights will finally be able to perform the teleport assault they are known for! First, you dont need troops when attacking in planestrike! Second, you get extra elite and fast attack choices! Third, everything that can deepstrike naturally can assault the turn it comes down! So, I can run 6 PAGK in fast attack slots, and then immediately deepstrike assault with them! Plus, 8 GKT squads! Its not the most effective thing possible, but I have over 30 GKT and 30 PAGK; they can now finally get played right! Move over deepstrike assaulting Daemons, the Grey Knights have arrived! So is anyone else excited, or is this all old news? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/172497-just-had-a-doh-moment-with-grey-knights/ Share on other sites
number6
It's occurred to me as well. However, GKs can't bust AV 14 Bastions. :( And breaking them apart is what Planetstrike is all about. We're gonna need Sisters or ISTs to help us out in virtually every game, methinks. Inquisitor =D=
;) Love it! I might actualy worry some people now. No one can dismiss the thought of a true GK assault. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/172497-just-had-a-doh-moment-with-grey-knights/#findComment-2039112 Share on other sites
Firedrake28
If Justicars can take meltabombs, toss 'em those. It's not much, but it gives your squads a chance of bringing down a Bastion. Straight GK, that's the best option we have. Maybe it's good enough, too.... After all, bastions don't move and don't have a weapon skill.... Hmmm.... Uncle Mel
An inquisitor and 3 acolytes with bombs seems mighty appealing to me now. cheap and very anti-bastion. KJB
Your forgetting the orbital strike, Melta Torpedoes locked onto a designated terrain piece (Hmm, the biggest bastion?) and then landing every shooting turn there after? Moonsword
Why not air drop a Grey Knight/Ordo Malleus Land Raider or some Dreadnoughts? The Land Raider, in particular, has the anti-armor to be a real pain in the neck for just about anyone, and anyone who tries assaulting it with infantry gets what they deserve when a squad of regular Grey Knights comes pouring out the sides to unleash a few industrial-sized cans of pain. Grand Master Iapetus
Meltabombs baby...S8+2d6, auto-hit on non moving objects. Depending on who you are playing with +1 on the AP roll. But as many have noticed, with PlanetStrikes DS rules, the GKs finally can claim the fluff they are known for: using DS as their preferred mode of transportation. Melissia
Sounds damned awesome to me. Similarly, I can create an entirely Seraphim strike force if I wanted to... mm. 2 jump pack canonesses, six full Seraphim squads... half of them meltabombs/hand flamers, half of them inferno pistols, with the squad sergeants getting power weapons + inferno pistols... Chengar Qordath
Does seem counter-intuitive that inferno pistols are hq-only in the armoury when normal seraphims can dual-wield them, but logic & reason don't always apply to the way 40k rules work. Moonsword
I'm still going with the Land Raider, if only because I want an excuse to watch my opponent's face twitch when I casually mention that we borrowed it from the Pointy Sticks. Although what sane, sensible Grey Knight would have anything to do with that, I don't know, but inflicting psychic pain is one of my life's little pleasures. Uncle Mel
I amend my earlier post: =][=, combi melta, m bombs acolyte, m bombs acolyte, m bombs acolyte, m bombs warrior meltagun or multi melta warrior meltagun or multi melta warrior meltagun or multi melta 4 melta shots and later 4 melta bombs (only usable if they survive off course. 184 pts in total and you can have up to 6 of these units! Melissia
It's also a glass cannon as well... all of those have 5+ saves IIRC as you haven't purchased power armor for them. Or even carapace armor. Prince of Excess
no one has mentioned chain fists yet :) as GKT cant take melta bombs, a brother captain with a chain fist can ruin a bastion's day, 4 attacks on the charge that auto hit? much more effective then 1 melta bomb, tho it is a lot more expensive food for thought :tu: PoE Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/172497-just-had-a-doh-moment-with-grey-knights/#findComment-2041398 Share on other sites

Or even carapace armor. well the =][= and warriors come with 4+ and you're right, for 15 pts extra their all in 4+. all shooting is at Bs 4, so that's pretty decent as well. I realise this isn't going 6 times in one list but 2 should be fairly consistent bunker busters 154 pts: =][=, combi melta, m bombs acolyte, m bombs, carapace acolyte, m bombs, carapace acolyte, m bombs, carapace warrior meltagun warrior meltagun warrior meltagun Not to expensive for one almost definate bunker destroyed. jakehunter52
Wow, good find DevianID. I didn't even think about it. Sometimes my mind gets stuck in the previous mode/game/edition. That termie idea sounds fine, especially if you decide to take a Daemonhammer and melta bombs are cheap enough for justicars however I wouldn't want to rely on it for the sake of wasting an entire GK squad's time. Yeah, DSing Dreads for me! And Sisters helping too! They flush 'em, GK's mop 'em!
