Skitarii and an Idea

Recommended Posts

Well, I'm planning an apocalypse force with all the forces of the Imperium. Now, I just came up with the idea as I was thinking about Titans; and I was thinking about including a Skitarii force from Ryza. I was thinking the composition would be made up of mostly storm troopers, veterans, tech priests, russ executioners, and a shadowsword (or is it stormsword?) and I was wondering if anyone had opinions on the colours the regiment would use. I was also wondering would it be more appropriate to use the Mechanicus COG or the Imperial Eagle, or perhaps a mixture of both? Thanks for the input in advance.

EDIT: Also, I was looking at the ranks/organisation on lexicanum, then I went back and looked at the soul drinkers omnibus and the sixer's refer to their leader as a colonel-priest but according to lexicanum tribunes fill the rank of line officers and they along with the rest of the regiment are under command by the magi and archmagi.

COG all the way. If they are a strict AM force that has the responsibility of acting as the support force for a Titan then definately the COG. As for the paint scheme, I think you could base it off of where ever they are currently fighting. It may be passe but I can see some type of red being used, possibly a badge or part of the heraldry. The heraldry would be the tough part; it would/might reflect what part of the force they represent or Titan they are supporting.

The Aquila Imperialis represents both the Imperium of Man and the Adeptus Mechanics as two empires join as one. As such, the two-headed eagle is almost a must on all Imperial warmachines. The Mechanicus Cog should also be represented, as it is the face of the machine god and the symbol of its might.

Which means you should have both on your vehicles, and that you should not worry too much about only the eagle being displayed on your infantry.

I agree with you, but that seems to be the Imperial version and not always the AM version. I am not so readily convinced that an AM force would not show the COG more so than the Imperial Eagle,...especially those who are in support of a Titan Legion. Just an opinion.

Thanks for the input guys, I really appreciate it. I think I'm gonna use a mixture of symbols; only in the way that on armour and caps, weapons, etc. I will not make the effort to get rid of the aquila but I will try to do the cog on banners, sholders, etc. On vehicles, I think I will make the cog the predominant symbol with only 1 aquila if any per vehicle. As per colour; well I've been playing around with it alot in my minds but I picture lots of different blues (because the regiment is from Ryza; a forgeworld that has plasma technology as close to mastered as one can get) woth some red thrown in here and there since they are after all part of the ADMECH.

I used the Cadian spru as the basis of my Skiitarii. As they have those lovely shoulder pads, freehanded Cogs and such can be painted on and you can keep the Aqullia on the chest armour.

I feel that where possible, in a Mechanicus army, especially a Legio Titanicus one, the Cog would take precidence where possbile.

My Ordo Hereticus Household sits on the same shelf somewhat uneasily, casting suspicious sidelong glances at them and muttering darkly.
