Interesting concept?

Not too sure how this would fit the fluff. Could be an interesting model to be sure, but I can't really see it being deployed. Perhaps back at the Fang or within the Fleet (not being dropped to the surface). Regailing the Sons of Russ prior to them entering the fray, then coordinating/directing strategies/deployments rather than being directly involved in the battle. As for the modeling, There would have to be a Fenrisian Wolf as an attendant and whether or not a Servitor/TechPreist/Iron Preist (apprentice/aide de camp) is the other is a matter of preference, I guess.

Credit for a little "out of the box" thinking, at least. What say you brothers?

Great Idea for me - I love the image of it striding into battle. As far as I am aware there has never been any reference to this kind of contraption/character in the fluff, but I can't help but feel it will fit in with the vibe of the wolves. The modeling oppotunities are also fantastic - I'd be tempted to steal it if I didn't have 100 other projects to get on with ^_^

I see your point about its actual deployment... But as an alternative model to represent a venerable dreadnought or Ironclad (my immediate thoughts) I can see it working really well. You may need to do a 'green stuff run' to make all that fur though... thats going to have alot of pelts and trophies I reckon!

From the fluff this sounds quite like the Wolf Throne that Logan Grimnar is sitting on when he welcomes Inquisitor Sternberg to the fang at the start of Ragnar's Claw. To quote the appropriate paragraph:

"Logan Grimnar sat stern and commanding upon the Wolf Throne. It appeared to be made of ancient stone, carved with runes that looked almost as old as time and seemed to have been cut there by wind and rain. The throne had been made to hold a man even larger than Grimnar. It dated from the time of Russ and it was possible that the great primarch himself had once sat on it. The back of the seat was carved to resemble a great snarling wolf's head looming over the sitter. Each arm of the throne was its paws. The strangest thing about the throne was that it did not rest on the floor, instead it floated about a hand's breadth above it, and it turned as the Great Wolf wished, seemingly guided by his will. Ragnar could not help but notice that the Great Wolf's armored form similarly did not touch the stone of the throne, but instead seemed to float just shy of its surface. He now knew a little about the ancient magic of suspensor systems and guessed that one of them was in use. At the very least it would surely make sitting on the hard stone more bearable, although Ragnar suspected that it had another use. On the back of the throne fluttered two vast banners: one bore the two rampant wolves that were the insignia of Grimnar, the other the snarling wolf's head that was the symbol of the chapter. They fluttered and rippled though there was not the slightest hint of a breeze to move them."

- Excerpt from Ragnar's Claw by William King (Chapter One, pg 26-27).

It wouldn't be a huge leap to imagine that the Wolf Throne includes some built in weapons systems in case of treachery and I am sure you could come up with some reason why it would be used in battle.

For parts the Dwarf Throne of Power could make a nice base model, it looks suitably vikingesque and with some wolf conversions could look quite at home in a space wolf army. I suspect the old model for it might look a bit more apropriate (it looks more throne-like and stone carved) if you can find it.

P.S. I read the IP rules and this seems like a reasonable use of a direct quotation, if the mods think otherwise feel free to delete the quote and leave the page reference.

As far as I knew, we don't necessarily write things down but, within the Fang, Hall of Battles, there are a great many runes containing not all, but a fair bit of lore. And when all else fails, we turn to Bjorn to enlighten us of the tales of olde. The concept sounds cool, but like I suppose has been mentioned, it may come into contact with the fluff.
