Yesterday I finished my first 1750 points of Imperial Fists Space Marines. I´ve just recently started reading an posting on this forum so I thought I´d put them up here and see what people think. Some pics are a little big so you´ll have to click them to see full size, sorry for that. All the pics are taken on different occasions, thats where the differencies in color comes from. Ok, here goes:

First up is my Captain:

All my pics of the whole army is blurry so this´ll have to do for now....

BY THE CHAOS GODS they are EXELLENT :D

I was going to say that in the first pic the Captain looks a bit orange, but your painting skills are out of this world and waaaaay out of my depth to comment on them.

The only thing I could say though is I think it looks better when you have the rim of the base showing unlike these, I dont know it just looks weird to me.

On another note have you ever gone for a Golden Daemon award as looking at these, you would have a very good shot at a top spot.

Please show some more!

Thank you all for kind words, I will post more pics at a later time. As for Golden Deamon I do enjoy painting display minis, but the minis in my army are hardly up to GD standard, especially when it comes to preparation -removing moldlines, drilling barells, smoothing surfaces etc, but thank you! I live in Sweden and there is no GD here, but if there where I would participate!

I managed to dig up some more pics. I know it´s supposed to be red stripe for veterans, not red helmet. SImplified a bit there for the sake of painting

When I saw these, I thought I had Died and gone to see the emperor, until I realised that I was still looking at the pictures. Call me wierd, but I especially like the Drop Pod and the Number Markings on you men and vehicles, Glowy eyes are also amazingly awesome(jealously looks on and dismisses my Crimson Fists). Thank the emperor Your and my army are related by Dorn, if I had to fight you, I might simply resign and say that your army is too beautiful to get shot at by my units.

Amazing work 10/10!

Are you positive they deserve a 10? Looking at the quality of the work, I'd say we're looking at more of an 11 or 12

Seriously insane stuff.

Hmm.... Very right, Sponsra took that dial and turned it to a 15 out of 10 at least

Back onto topic, how do you do those glowy eyes? I would prefer to know how to do them in red or that sick blue you've got going there, the green tutorial don't go too well with my army.

Thank you all for your comments!

On the glowy eyes, heres how I do it.

First I paint the eyes with Ice blue diluted with some water. Then i add even more water, and, having a very small amount of paint on the brush do the blending down on the cheek of the marine helmet. The diluted paint lets the base color shine through, and I will add more layers of dilutet paint the closer I get to the actual eye, making the blue less and less transparent. Then I start to mix in skull white doing highlights on the lens and on the top part of the cheek. The lens, wich is the source of light should end up lighter then the cheek. I also keep the darkest part pretty light (in this case ice blue) to add to the glowing effect.

This could be done with any colors of course, just remember to keep the whole range from shading to highlight a tad bit lighter than you normally would.

It could be hard to do it on dark armour, but I´ve came up with a little trick (for my red-helmed sergants). Do the whole thing with only white first, going from very dilluted, transparent white paint on the cheeks to opaque white on the eye lenses. Then do a very thin wash with whatever color you want the eyes to be!

Hope this makes sense :P
