First WIP

Recommended Posts

As the title says tis will be my first WIP, and it will be of a drop pod made from materials found at home. I havent taken any pics yet but I will soon. Ive just started on it so I will be able to describe what I have done along with the pics easily. So for now my list of materials; Gatorade powder mix container(almost ten years old i think), cardstock, expanding foam(the yelllow stuff used to insulate doors).

All right I got pics! I already started before the pictures, but I drew a picture to show what i did.

OK, Step 1:

Sanded the container for better paint and glue adhession. The bottom of the container was beveled and had raised letters, so I added a belt to go straight down, and cover it up. I then sprayed some foam in the gap betwwen the belt and container and all over the bottom. But dont put too much in the gap, as the foam expands, it could bust it off.

Step 2:

Let it dry overnight.

Step 3:

Get a nice big, scary lookin' knife :P ! Not really, but a sharp, serated knife works best.

Step 4:

Start choppin'! Actually start by cutting off small pieces. The idea is to cut the foam flush with the belt underneath(the poster paper)

Step 5:

Cut off the bottom ( the drop pod is upside down in the pics above) so that it stands straight.

Step 5:

Cut another strip of poster paper long enough to go around, and tall enough to cover the first strip and the foam. Then glue it on.

Later I will add the fins, and work out some of the rough edges. Here is a scale shot, and my other drop pod.
