happe
i was looking at a copy of the SW codex and i noticed something that scares me if it is true. I was looking at the Wolf Guard bodyguards and it says that any model may be given equipment from the space marine armory and that they can use their bolters like bolt pistols. so here is my question: Is it legal for you guys to have an IC with a squad of 9 "bodyguards" all armed with bolters and PWs/PFs? If this is the case along with some other stuff i noticed, i WOULD NOT want an updated codex, it seems like it could only go downhill. clanfield
at the top of the armory section it states you can only have .....2 single hand wepons ie bp and cc wepon ora single handed and a 2 handed wepon ]# ether way the limit is 2 wepons in the currant dex, and yes your right i beleve however as it counts as a bp you still would not get a extra atack for a bolter and pf etc as the pf has to be used in pairs to gain a extra attack Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/172981-can-you-really-do-this/#findComment-2044648 Share on other sites
Max_Dammit
but why would you put that much points in a unit that can be killed with ease and costs that much points Everything including the kitchen sink will be thrown against that when you put them on the board, nice for in a raider, but id like 15 BC's with an IC or WG better and is cheaper i think Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/172981-can-you-really-do-this/#findComment-2044664 Share on other sites
Wolf Guard Hengist
It is a nice thought but you would need some "Redshirt" ablative wounds in the unit to soak up the wounds because as Max Dammit pointed out you will get lit up. Wolf Guard Nostromo
Although you could use this unit, and it might dominate a battle or two now and then, 9 times out of 10 it is going to get annihilated before it can get its points back. By my reckoning, it will be roughly double the cost of a well armed Grey Hunter squad. I would suggest getting two of them armed to the teeth and grab double the number of power armour models and wounds instead. They are still a brilliant bodyguard for an IC too. Grey Mage
Atleast you know... like four stormshields and runic charms on the lot of them. If not a few suits of TDA to be sure. And then some mobile heavy weapons... and.... yeah. Ive made 1500pt armies with 10 wolf gaurd *including battle leader* wolf priest, and six grey hunters- Just for kicks! I did 15 TDA +3 Hq TDA in pods for Planetstrike in a 3000 points list. During the whole battle i lost 10 Greyhunters and 8 Wolfguard. The battle took 7 turns. But those guys soaked up a whole lot of fire, not to mention how much they took down by themself. (100 gaunts with endless tide for starters.) Grey Mage
Your supposed to be Good at close combat. Space Wolves were the premier CC legion. Ill also note you have to choose between bolters or two attacks per man- we have both. Of course, we also pay two points more a model for that privledge.
