Thank you for the comments. About the shading where the red and the yellow meets it blends down to almost black but the camera washes it out and to make it in more prominent would give the model an even more cartoonie look then they already have. I did try spreading the line some and just did not like to look.

I hope have more pictures to post soon as i should have the rest of the main figure done before too much longer.

Some more progress on Huron, finished up the yellow and did the wrappings for his ax.

And i seem to be having alot of problems with my camera washing out the detail, if any knows of some ways to fix this please let me know.

Perhaps a bit of Tin Bitz, and a drybrushing of Brazen Bronze along the yellow parts to bring out the golden shine. Then after the whole model is done with paint, do a few washes of Badab Black Wash (correct me if im wrong on the name) to raise the sunken areas, and give him that dark aura feel. Looks awesome so fr, keep up te good work fallen brother! (wow, a templar congraduating a chaos marine... break out the flamers! :) )

Erm, I think Sellus was talking about solutions to his camera lighting problems HVNSNTSOLDIER, not painting advice. :)

Meanwhile, I have issues with that Huron mini. I've been thinking about my own Huron Blackheart mini since I got my hands on the 2nd edition Codex: Chaos (I just knew the Red Corsairs were for me as soon as I saw them), and I just think I could do better than that with the parts I've already got (but then, who's ever seen a movie character that looked like the character that was in their mind's eye as they read the original book?). That's got nothing whatsoever to do with your paintjob Sellus, which I very much like the look of.

As for photographic advice? Well, I'm no trained photographer, but a few things I've picked up down the years:

  • Use a background screen: this'll make the mini stand out better; I don't know what it'll do for your main problem though.
  • Use 2 light sources to eliminate shadow. Hmm, I seem to be suggesting ways of getting more light rather than less; but the techniques of taking good pictures will always stand you in good stead.
  • Use your photo-editor (google picassa and GIMP are 2 worthwhile free packages IMO) to tweak the pics to make them look right.

Hope this helps. ;)

Switch to the Macro (I think its macro for close up shots) option if you haven't already, and if your camera has that option...that will at least help with the focus issues. Also try using photoshop or something similar to desaturate the image a "very" slight amount..that will help bring back some of the detail.
