Which Razorback is your choice?

I like the cheap TLHB and it's been pretty successful so far, but I can't help but wonder about the other weapons options.

I need some input, on the other options and if they are worth the points on an AV 11 transport?

What about adding a stormbolter, is it a worthwhile upgrade?

The assault cannon is a great choice....move 6 gives you an effective 30 inch range, and its an extra shot and +1 Str over the HB, and rending.

I miss the multi melta option though....

heavy flamers are kinda of a waste...if you are that close to the enemy, your vehicle is probably in assault range of another unit.

las plas is a great option as well.

lascannons don't seem as popular anymore these days....more shots to cause more wounds to cause more failed saves. I guess cause of all the cover saves.

I'll be very intrested in hearing about this too as I've just bought and assembles 5 razorbacks for my wolves. I was planning to just use HB's as its soo cheap and adds a heavy weapon to my GH's basicly. I can't justify paying 90pts for an AV11 6capacity transport. I had a game using them against a friend who's just starting chaos (TS's boo hiss) and got a comfortable win out of it using just HB's. Power armour made it so i genrally only killed one or two with combined fire but it was enough when coupled with the gray hunters in them adding their fire. against anything with other than power armour I imagine it will rock even harder.

I have this super-cheap razorback... I tore out all the guns, and made more room for my men to fit inside. It was brilliant and so hard core razorback just wasnt a badass enough name so I came up with something better. Are you ready for this? I call it... a RHINO.

Trust me, its beastly.

:).

Seriously I have the turrets for each one, and I find that the heavy bolters and the TLPG variants are probly the best at making back their points. Id take the TLLC if I really needed the extra fire support but at that price Im looking at getting to MM attack bikes instead.

I use the Las Plas. Either sit back and pump out a Str 9 and a TL Str 7 shot. (The squad will also have a plasma) Giving you a decent amount of firepower, and good at holding a home objective.

Or I kit out the squad way more than is healthy and run the las plas as well. Drive up, shoot 2 TL Plasma Gun shots, disembark with 2 Plasma pistols, and a Plasma or meltagun. - That's six Str 7 AP2 shots with 2 of them twin linked. Shoot the las first turn or two driving up, cracking open some of their transports, and take out squads or monstrouse creatures on the disembark.

The only other option I run is the base with Heavy bolters to keep it cheap, protect an objective holding squad, and provide some clean up ability on squads that need finishing, or just need to do some wounds to cause a moral test from shooting.

i only use em for long fangs if its my anti infantry squad i give em the tl las canon ,if its the anti armour squad twin link heavy bolters this variant i give storm bolters,

genraly i give me rhinos storm bolters as its a nice buff ,my latest longfang idea is sarge 2 guys both with multi meltas in a heavy bolter razorback, works nice mobile doom squad

Thanks for the comments, keep 'em coming!

What about the Stormbolter upgrade, it it worth it on the basic TLHB RB?

I'd say the more dice you can chuck around the better although at the moment I reserve the Stormbolter upgrades for my Rhinos as it lets me keep my guys sat inside the transport nice and cosy whilst I can still throw 8 Bolter shots a turn around to anything within 12".

I back the cheap option - twin linked heavy bolter, particularly the forge world version (admitedly not cheap...) as it looks infinitely more lethal than the 'protrusion' on the basic model ;)

I used to sware by the lascannons, and do still use them alot in games where I think they will have enough targets. However, the basic razorback, or even the extra 10 to give it the potential kills of the stormbolter, is just too good to be true. 6 Grey hunters with a plasmagun in a cheap razorback costs you in the region of 150-160 points (depending on details), spits out a surprising quantity of nasty projectiles and requires both AT and anti-infantry fire to neutralise. What more can a budding wolf lord ask for?

I had a 1000 pts game last night and fielded a TL/AssCannon on my Razorback, I sat it behind my Rhinos as they all advanced and the fire support it provided was awesome. I admit I was rolling really well but on average I was easily causing four wounds a turn on Marines from the RB and when I added my Ven Dreads Asscannon it was pretty awesome. I will definately be keeping it in my lists for a while and may consider adding a second when the bitz pack kit comes out.
