WholeHazelNuts
What is with the MASSIVE skull on the Skulls shoulderpads from GW. If I'd known they were that protruding and huge I wouldn't have bothered! I've included a shot of my test Skulls marine and also another shot of a marine with a different type of skull pad that is no longer available. WHat were they thinking? http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o311/WholeHazelNuts/40kStuff/Photo0843.jpg http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o311/WholeHazelNuts/40kStuff/Photo0847.jpg http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o311/WholeHazelNuts/40kStuff/Photo0848.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/173375-silver-skulls-marines/ Share on other sites

Marius Perdo
I agree, they are way too big for ordinary marines. I got some too but I still use the old Blood Angel Honour Guard skull pads instead. However I do clip the new ones off and file them down. Then they are Okay for terminators, vehicles etc. Edit: Forgot to say, the paint job does look very nice. Play the 5th company myself, without the red comapny markinngs they look even darker, and are somewhat easier to paint :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/173375-silver-skulls-marines/#findComment-2049185 Share on other sites
UltraRich
Is be tempted to get a load of marine backpacks with the larger skull on it of a bitz site and then slice it off and use that on the pads. Ive done this on one of my minis and it works a treat. If you think its still too pronounced just sand the back slightly. Heres the pack Im on about. At 20p each you cant go wrong. The good thing too is that you can sand the pack down and use it elsewhere clicky Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/173375-silver-skulls-marines/#findComment-2049194 Share on other sites
Kurgan the Lurker
Unfortunate that the new pads are so bad in that respect. May be better to buy up a bunch of skull bitz and make your own with plastic shoulder pads. MRCHAOS
O my........ GW how could you, this has to be the worse shoulder pad ever! Not only is it 2nd edition size, the actual skull looks silly, I would sugest useing the iron warrior transfer cut in half and panted over as a guide. Apart from that, your Silver Skull looks cool and I love the base  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/173375-silver-skulls-marines/#findComment-2049362 Share on other sites
Vissah
I used a couple of those shoulderpads for my LotD and it looks ok but they have to be over the top anyway. But on a normal marine like yours I say it is a bit big but the colour looks really good.
