Forging A Great Company

Maccon

I had a grand vision the other night after reading all the rumors about the release of the new codex. My vision was grand, yet simple; when the new codex is released, I shall purchase it and then smite the foes of the Allfather with my army FULLY PAINTED. Whenever I read something and get excited I'm going to channel that towards getting my army finished. In fact before I started this little project, I only had one fully painted sqaud. "But Maccon," you say "you say you've played the wolves for some time now...why do you have only ONE painted unit? You lied to us you traitorus whelp!" I would, after dodging the chainsword aimed at my head, tell you that while my army was painted it was not painted in the colors of the Wolves. My marines sadly still bear the colors of my former DIY chapter from a few editions ago. With every other painting project I had I couldn't justify repainting already painted models.

But no more! If the release of a new codex isn't a good enough reason to repaint my force than I don't deserve to call myself a son of Russ. So I have begun a campaign to get my force painted, and any others are welcome to join me on this. I'm making this thread in an attempt to hold myself accountable for my progress, as well as accept the criticisms and comments of the others in the Fang. This sort of thing is how I get things painted. Nothing inspires like an upcoming tourney or say a codex release. I need something to foucs me, as when it comes to painting I have the attention span of an over-caffinated ferret.

A note to the Mods: If this topic is deemed inappropriate for its location...or content, than by all means I feel little remorse at its demise or movement (it'll let me off the hook). The mistake was out of ignorance not malice...please I don't want ot be a servitor.

A further note to everyone else: I'm posting pictures in that "pics or it didn't happen" kind of way. I'll certainly take any C&C people have but my goal here is to quickly paint up a large force. That being said, I want my force to look nice...from a few feet away, I know my line highlights are too fat and I missed a spot there...I'm going for table top quality, good but not neurotically good..

And so without further ado..

New additions! A squad of Blood Claws.

Having shown my start...I think the primer on my second 15 man squad of blood claws should be dry by now...

I'll try to update the thread every few days...that's the point after all.

Looking good so far, Brother! Keep it up! I prefer to see a fully painted army across that table that is TT quality rather than anonymous primer coated marines and 1 amazingly painted squad or two. And the 'good from a few feet away' concept is a favorite of mine. I've had to rely on it many a time!

Yes in fact they are finishing nails. My DIY chapter was based upon the old myths of the spartans. Each of those models once had a combat shield (made of of plasticard chevrons and bingo chips...hey it worked). In addition to the shields, I gave them all spears...via the nails. It would be far too much of a pain to denail them and try to find the bits to reattach all the chainswords. It may look a little odd but a spear is still a decent hand to hand weapon I suppose...I wouldn't want an Astartes stabbing me with one.

And thank you, I'm glad to be a source of inspiration for others.
