Gah, do I really want to paint 5k worth of wolves BEFORE I go out and essentially buy an entirely new great company....most likely only to be burned out enough to not want to pain another model for months.....hmmmm. We shall see. I got 4 dreads and 20 termies I would love to get painted initially, only goes up from there

tempting, but I'm going to wait and see what is released with the new dex. As it is I'm planning on changing my colour scheme and I currently have around 4-5k pts worth of models that'll either have to be stripped and resprayed, or scraped / sold.

For the moment I'm acctually working on a Cadian Air.Cav regiment that I'm tying to my pups with their fluff. Eventual goal is to be able to go to an Apoc game and field a full regiment of Cadians supporting a Space Wolf great company :Troops:.

So yeh, holding off on my pups until the dex release for the moment. Though gathering bits and pieces for conversion plans etc. Trying to get my hands on a lot of the older metal wolf models for combining with the new stuff when it comes out. Have old B'Jorn, old bearded WG pack leader, a games day wolf priest, some 2nd ed WG termies / Rune Priest termie, etc. Also starting to stockpile some nice resin bases. Speeds up construction and makes the models stand up a bit easier when they're top-heavy with GS ^_^.

Haha, yes I'm lamenting the fact I don't know anyone in my local area who is into 40k. Although I love the model making side of things, I'm not so happy about the painting. I ususally feel like a nice conversion job has been let down by my painting skills ;). I'd be quiet happy if I could setup a nice little production line with another player or two to help churn out the basic painting and highlights. The finer details I still like to do myself
Painting can be a drag but I force myself to get through it, unfortunately I don't have many unpainted Space Wolves atm, I think I have a Haegre conversion and 2 Blood Claws with Flamers and that's... well it. I really need to get some vehicles though, considering biting the bullet and buying 1-2 Land Raider Crusaders for the new Codex but I gotta see.
dug the cubs out and starting to paint them tonight I don't think that the weopen load out is going to change much for the basic troops although the wolfclaw/lightninig claw thing is something to keep an eye on since it could be a HQ only option and my wlof guard termies have lightning claws but hay if this gets me painting it great.
Yeh I'd wait and see what the go is with wether or not we get this multi-AC raider, and what it's capacity is. If it's a Space Wolf only variant on the Crusader you'll be kicking yourself for having bought the Crusaders.

That's only if it's any good, I doubt such an up gunned variant will have the trasport capacity of the Crusader and that's the only real reason to take one, the sight of 16 Blood Claws pouring out and charging something. If the stuff from the new marine dex is any indication it'll probably be all flash and no substance.

As Ive only just started Wolves; I dont think Ill properly start until the new 'Dex [a friend of mine will also be starting a 'grudge' army - Im unsure what it will be]

In the mean time Im begining with a first Wolf; probably more a show piece than a gaming one [see how it goes];

My bits have been ordered; just awaiting there arrival.

Ill paint him up like DV8's Tutorial; I really enjoy that look.

ok being a what have you got left to paint list ill add mine......

1 rhino

1 razorback

1 landraider

1 landspeeder

2 vindicators

1 whirlwind

1 drop pod

1 baneblade

1 pred

5 bikes

1 attack bike

1 fulley converted Wolf preist ( ill post this sucker cause youll love it)

3 grey hunters

6 blood claws ( jump packs)

5 scouts

5 long fangs

4 wolf guard

10 wolfs.

A hell of alot to do befor are release but im confident i can do it.

Ok, lets see, I have:

Grey Hunter pack (the old plastic space marines from the 3e 40k box, doing them first to test DV8's great colour scheme).

Old Model Predator, same, gonna paint it to try out tank colour scheme.

Old WG Terminators.

Old LF pack.

New LF pack.

GH pack.

BC pack.

Ragnar / Iron Priest / Njal / Ulrik

Bjorn

Drop Pod

Land Raider

3 Bikers.

Im gonna try and get most of the old stuff painted at least. I am approaching it more as painting practice than as painting an army, I haven't painted anything in years so I figure it would be nice to be a bit less rusty when the new models hit.

I'll probably leave the LR, Bikers and maybe the new LF's until last as those are the ones I suspect would be most likely to get reconfigged when the codex hits.

I have to paint a 3rd Grey Hunter pack and a 3rd Blood Claws pack, together with a 2nd Wolf Scout pack. Other than that I have a couple of Wolf Guard and Long Fangs to alter the composition of my squads. I think I will wait until new Codex is released to make sure that I dont need to do any weapon swaps afterwards.

Cheers

James
