Combi-Melta and Heavy Flamer Conversion

After much searching, I wasn't really able to find any threads on how to make a combi melta or a heavy flamer that I actually liked the looks of. So.. i decided to make my own up and show them with you.

The Combi Melta is made from a Bolter, a melta gun nozzel, and a little bit of plastic tubing attached to the end with a hole drilled in each side. Of course the orriginal barrel had to be removed first.

The Heavy flamer was made from a space marine bolt pistol arm, a Catachan heavy flamer, a Cadian flamer backpack attached to a slightly modified marine backpack, some wire, some greenstuff and some Greebles.

Very impressive. I really like the heavy flamer, I'm going to have to make one for my Salamander Sternguard. The HF is the obviously tactical choice for the ST, most folks like to keep them on the move and keep infantry away. The HF is good for both of those roles.

One question, though, is "Greebles" your word for bits?

One question, though, is "Greebles" your word for bits?

Greeble: "A greeble or nurnie is a small piece of detailing added to break up the surface of an object to add visual interest to a surface or object, particularly in movie special effects. They serve no real purpose other than to add complexity to the object, and cause the flow of the eye over the surface of the object to be interrupted, usually giving the impression of increased size. It is essentially the small detailed technical part of a larger object. The detail can be made from geometric primitives, including cylinders, cubes, and rectangles, combined to create intricate, but meaningless, surface detail. Greebles are commonly found on models or drawings of fictional spacecraft in science fiction."

It's my favorite new word, and I've been looking for an excuse to use it :D

I actually took at Chaos Terminator Heavy Flamer, chopped off the arm just below the elbow, shaved off the Chaos arrows and the demonic skull on the top, attached it to an arm that is stuck out straight, then glued on a back pack from a plasma cannon devestator. It will need some green stuff to attach the cables to the HF but I like the look of the model so far. Throw on some purity seals and other bitz from the SM commander pack and I have my newest Sternguard.I tried to take a pic but they all come out blurry.

'Greebles'! What a great word. I've knowingly used greebles without knowing they were 'greebles', if you get my drift. Now my greebles will be more greebly than ever! Thanks for that Legacy40k. :P
