Instant Death Rule

I was looking at the 5th edition rulebook, SM codex, Tyranid codex and that sparked a question about the Instant death rule. The rule states that an attack strength double a target is an instant kill this is clear. Also when you look at the tyranid codex it says that under certain circumstances tyranids are immune to the instant death rule caused by double strength attacks, this is clear. However when I looked at the rules for captain Sicarius and his coup de gras attack it does not mention anything about the attack not being effective against targets immune to instant death so would this attack cause instant death as it is not strength dependent?

The errata/faq for synapse is that tyranids are imune to instant death (no longer just immune to double strength instant death), the esentialy all have eternal warior as long as they are in synapse range, nothing that causes "instant death" will effect them. So they will only lose one wound. Only force weapons from old codexes (the 'hunters) still kill outright as oposed to using "instant death"
You can still specifically target the synapse creature in shooting, or drop pie plates on them to watch the annoying little gaunts burn, right?

well as much as you can specificly shoot any other unit. Though wariors can play musical wounds, but more often the synaps will be zoanthropes and tyrants.
