chrac
I'm thinking of building a pre-heresy Emperor's Children army and I was wondering: what units/vehicles in the new SM codex would not fit with a pre-heresy army? Specifically, what about land raider crusaders, redeemers, razorbacks and speeders? Any other weapons/vehicles/units that you would avoid? Thanks in advance. The Shadows
Check out Bell of Lost Souls' Horus Heresy mini-dex, it has all the info your looking for. Also if you need artistic inspiration i would highly recommend picking up a copy of the Horus Heresy: Collected Visions. It has everything a pre-heresy modeler such as your self will need Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/173733-you-cant-take-that/#findComment-2053476 Share on other sites
blood_raven_240
BoLS' Age of Heresy Mini-Dex is a good reference: Age of Heresy Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/173733-you-cant-take-that/#findComment-2053480 Share on other sites
Pacific81
As the guys above have said, also for a more indepth view of individual forces and characters (although these are more specific) take a look at the Tempus Fugitives rules for their continuing campaign: Tempus Fugitives downloads Scroll a little way down for the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy rulebooks (there is a seperate one for Emperor, Horus and various Aliens). Also, here is a comprehensive llist which deals with what is and what is not available during the heresy: From the great crusade forum Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/173733-you-cant-take-that/#findComment-2053555 Share on other sites
The emperors chosen
ok, so no land raider crusaders(they were created later), a little iffy on land speeder storms, not sure. No redeemers, as those were also formed later.other than that, I think you might be good, check out the minidexes and you should be good Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/173733-you-cant-take-that/#findComment-2054229 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
No predator annihilators either. Speeders are go, some razorback variants are go- I believe the TLLC, HB, and TLPG variants only though. No redeemers. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/173733-you-cant-take-that/#findComment-2054524 Share on other sites
Rain
Pretty sure all razorbacks were discovered in M36 so no-go all around on those, but you do get jetbikes a la the current master of the Ravenwing. Leonaides
Rhinos, Predators (but not the twin las turret - as the SW's invented that long after the heresy), Landraiders, Landspeeder Tornados, Maybe single gun Landspeeders, not storms, no assault cannons anywhere. Pacific81
Assault cannons, or their prototype versions, were available in limited numbers (hull mounted weapons being the more common example of this) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v246/Pacific81/lorg.jpg Theres also a pic of a support squad of marines holding one but unfortunately I don't have that one to hand. Raven Angel
Razorback is a redicovery of the oldest versions of the Predator. According to the Forge World book the original Preds had no side sponsons and carried 6 troops for support. Later it traded the troops for the sponsons and more ammo. But I don't know if that version was still in use durring the early years of the crusade. Cloud Runner
Assault cannons are a tricky one. Most fluff (and rules sets) says they were uncommon/not developed. But there's a piece of SW artwork, where a devvie squad is toting about 8 of the cannons, in power armour! Having played with the TF's lists, they are an excellent way of representing M31 marines and I would definitely recommend them. Pacific81
Hmm, once again I will have to disagree with this im afraid at least as far as vehicles are concerned - theres mention of one in Galaxy in flames, the IA article on the Baal predator (which confirms it is pre-heresy), not to mention Collected Visions. There was a higher basis of technology in the Great Crusade than 10,000 years later. This was when the weapon was first developed, so as the crusade went on they would have become more and more prevalent. There are several more than these below, but these are the only ones on pa-sy and I'm not going to risk ire by uploading them myself http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v246/Pacific81/poarthDREAD.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v246/Pacific81/wroath.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v246/Pacific81/ymirDREAD.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/173733-you-cant-take-that/#findComment-2056509 Share on other sites
