Vulkan and incinerators?

Recommended Posts

So, say you have DH allied with some SM, and those SM have Vulkan as an HQ choice.

Would it be a total jerk move to consider the Incinerators/etc as flamer weapons so they are then twin-linked? I mean, an incinerator is just a flamer with anointed promethium inside, right? :)

if flamestorms are not counted as heavy flamers.... (template weapon, heavy 1) what is it classed as then ?

(note not to be foreseen as aggressive I'm curious as I'm a salamanders player)

To be pedantic 'Flamestorm Cannons'. 'Heavy Flamer' refers to a specific profile.

Unlike the storm shield thing, this feels wrong to me, but the text is clear.

There is just not a lot of information based on classifying what the flamestorms are and the lack of information means people have pre conceptions of what the rules mean. Not that it matters if the flamestorms are twin linked or not they still devastate any real opposition it would just be good having clarification as they are quite confusing.

If there is any where I can find out more in regards to this could you give a link to this.

I'm sorry but i fail to see what exactly is hard to understand, we are talking about four different weapons here with four different names and four different profiles. flamers, heavy flamers, flamestorms and incinerators. just because the latter two use a flame template as well doesn't mean they fall under the first two.

Sorry kids, we're not letting that dirty pyro in the dragonskin near our precious daemon-slaying gear. Incinerators already makes the baby Tzeentch cry tears of insanity (especially when you Tank Shock the buggers into a congo line with a Raider, then hop out and burninate+assault). Likewise, Vulkan has this ongoing rivalry with Redeemer tankers; their flamer is bigger then his ;) y'know, ego thing. Hence, no extra burnyness for them either.

On the other hand, Vulkan is renowned for his abilities as a ladies man, so even the frigid bolter bitches can be charmed into letting him tinker with their wargear. His only condition is that they don't let Inquisitors or Priests along when they go a' purging; those guys just cramp his style (with their 'rules' and 'I'm in charge' earache).

If you want to be a real rules Lawyer, only the 4 weapons listed gain Twin-Linking as the rule specific labels them.

This means the following weapons are not Twin-Linked in He'Stan's army (list not limited to just these though):

Vulkan's Guantlet of the Forge

Seraphim Hand Flamers

Grey Knight Incenerators

Saint Celestine's Ardent Blade (limited to Apocalypse games since He'Stan and Saint cannot be fielded together typically).

The only weapons allowed are:

Flamer

Heavy Flamer

Meltagun

Multi-Melta

Combi-Flamer

Combi-Melta

The difference to look for is whether the entry says the weapon fires as, like, or with the same effect as one of the 4 weapons, or if the weapon entry actually says it is one of the 4 weapons.

It was also discussed at length before whether he even given this ability to allied units relating to whether or not they count as part of "his army". This is not defined properly anywhere so your opponent can easily ask you to show them in the rules where it defines this.

You can find the discussion HERE.

Saint Celestine's Ardent Blade (limited to Apocalypse games since He'Stan and Saint cannot be fielded together typically).

just wondering why they cant be together normaly?

if your refering to the fact that celestines entry says "a witch hunter" army may take her then you should know that was changed in a faq to "an army"
