Mr Talis
Apologies; Ive now searched; and found Team Landos thread; but that seems to have slumbered; also searched Google and found a brief description of the planets climate. Its incredably early in the morning and so I apologies once more; Ill continue searching when the Eye of Russ breaches the Horizon. Vassakov
Snow, mountains and rocky precipices would do for Asaheim, where the Fang is based. Steep cliffs and rocky outcroppings are also distinctive of this region of Fenris. For the islands, more flat terrain with wooded areas and streams or gullys would be appropriate. Valley areas would combine aspects of both, with steep sharp hills, snowfall and ravines or rivers with the occasional forest running through them. Its incredably early in the morning and so I apologies once more; Ill continue searching when the Eye of Russ breaches the Horizon. Yeah, I really must apologize to all the Space Wolves Brothers, I've been too busy lately to have time to get back to that thread. Howevere, I HAVE been working on the broken ship-piece, added a lot of stones and such, and I've made some rune stones and stone henge-like pieces that I will probabaly review the thread with in the near future :P So, if you're still bilding your table when I get to that there's bound to be some good terrain pieces in there. One thing you might add is hut and houses with viking looks, since most of fenris' people is barbarians living on islands here and there. If either of you have the Space Wolf novel by Bill King, that has some very good descriptions in it. If not, I'll try and dig out the salient quotes. @ Beef - cheers! Always good to keep the Rune Priests happy! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/173950-fenris/#findComment-2056394 Share on other sites
TeamLando
I've got all the SW novels, and the old 2nd Edition Codex, and I'd say that's your best bet at gettin' this right. Damn.. this makes me wanna revive that thread today and start working.. but I'm at my parens house atm. and not in my apartment, where all the terrain stuff is. so I'm afarid it'll have to wait a week or two before I can get back to it ;_; Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/173950-fenris/#findComment-2056414 Share on other sites
Warhorse47
I would base the coastlines on Iceland or Greenland, just for fluff purposes. Looks to the crags and fjords of the Nordic regions for the rest. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/173950-fenris/#findComment-2056669 Share on other sites
Growler67
My guess would be a lot like northern Europe. Plenty of coastal fjords like Scandanavia, rocky cliffs and peaks like the Scottish Highlands, plenty of heavily wooded forrests like one would encounter in southern Germany at the base of the Alps where one finds plenty of white stuff and high mountain lakes. I wouldn't imagine much of desert like terrain, though there are vague referrences to open prarries where falconing is a chief means of providing for ones clan/village. Of course as mentioned the sharp descriptions of the region around Asaheim described in the "Space Wolf" paperback. The seas are populated with Kraken and Sea Serpents among other denizens of the depths along with gales that would chill a mans soul so the variety abounds. Mr Talis
Thanks Brothers; Ive decided on the following -6x4 Board cut into 2x2 parts =, mainly for ease of storage. -Two hills; On begining in the 'top left' spreading onto the surrounding 2x2 segments; and one in the 'bottom right' being contained on that square. -These hills are the perminat features on this board -Other scenery including; River; Village; Forrest; Runes; and other stuff I can comeup with will be mounted on their own bases so they can be placed anywhere on said board. - Ive also already sourced the base of the table; a 6x4 piece of 16mm MDF from a local Hardware Supplier. And thats all Ive got so far; Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/173950-fenris/#findComment-2057070 Share on other sites
