But I don't like land raiders....

They're ugly boxes with guns poking out, I've always been one for min/maxing and playing to my armies strengths but I can't bring myself to play with them.

The main reason I've started my DH army is my love of the fluff and the look of Grey Knights, super space marines in my eyes. However the land raider just spoils the feel of my army in my opinion. So I'm basically trying to work out a 1,500 allcomers GK list but am in need of some anti-armour.

I'm relatively open to other configurations and units to incorporate into my soon-to-be army but I just don't want a land raider, let alone three!

Anyone have any ideas for a competant anti-tank unit I could use? (TLLC/ML Dreadies? or are they too flimsy)

Cheers

Plasma gun-servitors are ok against Rhinos, LS and other low level armour ;)

Callidus can also stun low level armour, so your chainfist BC can finish it.

IST in rhinos/chimera, two with meltaguns, can also make a big difference.

Overall I still would bet that hellfire dreadnoughts are your best bet, togheter with either IST+2xmelta+chimer (two firepoints) or the plasma gun-servitors.

It is not an easy task, atleast when u got more then one vehicle with armour 13<

No problem!

Fill your heavy support slots with TLLC/ML dreads. Few people use them because people like to use dreads in assaults. But quite honestly, a DH army doesn't need them. GKs handle enemy infantry just fine. PAGKs are brilliant, but take some GKTs along, and you have a unit that makes codex Marines TH/SS termies cry big tears like figs. (Aside: GKTs make an excellent walking unit. Give it a pair of psycannons and let the shrouding and TDA keep them nigh-unkillable. Toss them into an assault for decisiveness.)

I think the best option DH armies now have is spamming the table with 5-man IST units, 2x meltas, in a Rhino. Take 3-4 of them, and they, combined with 2-3 hellfire dreads should provide all the anti-armour you could need.

There are other options, of course (e.g., allied Seraphim with inferno pistols, inducted IG platoons), but IMHO, dreads and ISTs are about the most cost-efficient choices we have.

I love my Land Raiders, yet I'm also the first to admit that I'm courting trouble by tying up such a huge percentage of my armies points in just 3 models. However, I'm having more fun playing the metagame these days, so I'm cool with it.

You can play a footslogging GK list. It's a completely different dynamic and I would assume you would need to rely on keeping Rhinos full of Storm Troopers with Meltaguns ready to counter-attack in order to do a lot of damage to armour seeing as those dreadnoughts are much less survivable than LRs and wont last long.

I agree! While not being as tough as the Land Raider Build, a footslooging GK-army done right is quite powerfull. Number6 wrote a tactica about a year or so ago on how to do a footslogging GK-army. Since then I've played such a list on several occasions and found it really nasty. My current score is 23 wins/7 draws/1 defeat.

But to answer your question - I would go with TLLC/CCW dreads. It is mean against tanks. It can support your troops when assaulting the enemy HQ, and they can stand their own in CC. People then to forget just how awesome dreads have become in CC.

Btw. dont forget Storm Troopers with plasma/melta. Small critters that the enemy ignores until his tanks go BOOOM!! :D
