Unnamed SM Chapter

Hi guys, new member here.

I've had around 1000 points of SM for a while, painted back when I was 11/12 (ten years ago) all painted in the colours of Ultramar. Dug them out, and after finding a tutorial for stripping the paint off them using Dettol, have started painting them again.

This is the colour scheme I'm going with

sm.php?bpe=2c2d8b&bpj=2c2d8b&bp=2c2d8b&bpc=2c2d8b&hdt=2c2d8b&hdm=2c2d8b&hdl=eed5ac&ey=3d9353&er=001522π=001522&nk=2c2d8b&ch=2c2d8b&eg=001522&sk=001522&abs=2c2d8b&bt=2c2d8b&cod=2c2d8b&ull=2c2d8b&lk=eed5ac&lll=2c2d8b&lft=2c2d8b&url=2c2d8b&rk=eed5ac&lrl=2c2d8b&rft=2c2d8b&slt=001522&sli=eed5ac&srt=001522&sri=eed5ac&ula=2c2d8b&lel=2c2d8b&lla=2c2d8b&lw=eed5ac&lh=eed5ac&ura=2c2d8b&rel=2c2d8b&rla=2c2d8b&rw=eed5ac&rh=eed5ac&bg=FFFFFF&rb=001522&gr=001522&wg=true&aq=true&mk7=001522&chps=19553c&ti=7b4a39&

Base coat sprayed Chaos black, coat of Liche purple, highlighted with a mix of liche purple and bleached bone. Washed with a mix of leviathan purple and badab black.

The shoulder pads are base of Dheneb Stone, then bleached bone on top of that, then washed with devlan mud.

then the whole thing is highlighted by drybrushing kommando khaki lightly over the top.

Once I can get my camera hooked up to the PC I'll get some pics up.

C&C welcome

Their very dark, hard to tell much other than they look purple.

I would want some brighter perhaps more contrasting colors, to make them popp on the field. not look like a blob o' purple and dark brown.

But its your army, your scheme, you do what you want. Maybe try a white undercoat instead of black if that what your using?

These look realy nice, and you have gone for the same dirty we actualy fight look that I go for ;)

But you need to add another colour, to the shoulder trim or the Boltgun/ or even both, to make them pop when looking from a tabletop!

I had the same thing with my Orange marines, first I did the shoulder trims in red, and up close they looked realy nice but once you stepped back about 2 foot it just looked too dark and you could not see any detail. So I went with one of the posters from here's idea and changed the trim colour to blue, and it realy has made the diference.

Give it a go on a test mini and see if you like it.
