Hey everyone. Quick question. The Q&A says:

 

Q2c.) Can a Wolf Guard Battle Leader take a Heavy Weapon, as per the Wolf Guard Bodyguard option?

 

A.) No. A Wolf Guard Battle Leader is a Wolf Guard in NAME ONLY, and thusly, get NO options from the Wolf Guard Leader/Bodyguard entry.

 

But I see many people using WGBLs with heavy weapons in their army lists. Which is generally considered legal?

Not sure where you are getting that Q&A, but the offical FAQ on the GW site is completely opposite of what that says.

 

And I quote: "Q: Can a Wolf Guard Battle Leader select Wolf Guard Bodyguard heavy weapons?

A: Yes"

Again, I really dont know where you pulled that little tidbit from, but as per the FAQ, in very very VERY clear writing (a novelty with FAQ's, I know), it says flat out that we can. Now, will this continue on into the next codex? My money is on a big fat "no". But for now, we are very within our rights to field a drop pod with up to 4 heavy weapons (if you can work out the models).

Sadly that was an option at the time that few people were willing to hear... even though its the only reasonable interpretation of the WGBLs entry.

I completely agree... Otherwise any other HQ should be able to take heavy weapons as well.

 

I still play it so that my Wolf Guard Battle Leaders doesn't carry heavy weapons.

I beleive he was quoting the original faq for 3rd or 4th edition before they allowed us to take the heavy weapons for WGBL

Does anyone recall seeing pics ( and were there rules for) WG Pack Leaders carrying heavy weapons ( attached to a squad)? Somewhere I recall seeing a terminator WG with an assault cannon with a pack of Grey Hunters.

 

Now that would be a great option, given the move shoot assault theme the new wolves may have...

You could do that with only the WGBL. The entry for WGPL is completely separate from the WGBG section, and the heavy weapons are only listed for the WGBG.

it says specifically in the codex, that the WGBL can take items from the Wolf Guard army list entry, BUT doesn't count as a WG in terms of points. (in the armoury)
