Skirax
I am looking at a picture of the Great Russ, and it seems like he has a wolf snout. Since the big P's were left open to the effects of the Warp, and he grew up with wolves, does this mean he is a mutant primarch? corvux
Is this picture official? or just a commission or the like? I would think that it is possible concidering the fluff behind Russ but also there is the fact that you would think that primarchs would be more resistant to mutations then other normal marines. Vassakov
Show us this picture, and we Lords of the Fang shall pass our judgement on it... However, I don't think that there is any evidence of Russ actually sucuumbing to the Wulfen - in fact, other than a certain level of barbarism and a tendency to act rashly Russ was one of the more "normal" Primarchs. Compare him to Lion'El Jonson - both grew up in the wilderness, and both were initially fairly feral. However, whilst Russ developed into a charasmatic, if blunt and wilful man the Lion became aloof and distant. However, both were "human" looking. Compare them to Sanguinius or Magnus - both clearly mutants. spjaco
"WHAAA...." The Wolf Scout sputtered, sending frothy ale all over the place. Knee jerk reaction was indignation there, but I for one need to see this picture to estimate its heresy fully. LOL Seriously, give us a link over here. spjaco Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/174123-russ-mutated/#findComment-2058371 Share on other sites
Grand Master Tyrak
Skirax Posted Today, 10:27 AM I am looking at a picture of the Great Russ, and it seems like he has a wolf snout. Since the big P's were left open to the effects of the Warp, and he grew up with wolves, does this mean he is a mutant primarch? By what standards are you judging? By human standards, all the Primarchs are mutants, but there is no real Primarch standards for what's a mutation and what's not. I don't think you're ever going to be able to judge if any of the Primarchs were more/less mutated than another. Skirax
Look at the Tempus Fugutives Age of the Emperor, either imperial pack and look for the Legio VI, and it's a close up of, for all I can tell, Russ. Please don't hesitate to release Freki or Geri on me if it's not, but it looks like him. When I say mutated, I mean excess mutations. Look at Horus, Guilliman or even Corax. All were relatively human in looks, but then Magnus or Sanguinius have strange attributes, Magnus being a cyclopian, red giant, and Sanguinius has the very obvious wings. Grey Mage
Take a look at the Model for Leman Russ... hes got a human face to them- hes about as human as any Marine is... the only serious "mutation" by marine standards that his legion had were wolf-like fangs. No snout. No gorrilla hair *though he may have been hairy at points in his life it was in the human style AFAIK*. And no sense of chaos taint on him- the emperor would have been truely pissed, and kept hitting him with the powerfist that knocked him out the first time around. Sons of Horus
I think a better and more exact picture of Russ would be the cover of the upcoming HH book Prospero Burns :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/174123-russ-mutated/#findComment-2060122 Share on other sites
randian
I think a better and more exact picture of Russ would be the cover of the upcoming HH book Prospero Burns  Is that supposed to be Russ as the lead Marine in that picture? He doesn't look any bigger than the Marines behind him. Compare that with how monstrously huge Magnus is (about twice as tall as the Marines surrounding him) on the cover of A Thousand Sons. Beef
Well Magnus was a giant. But that picture of Russ on the new HH book is just craptastic. He looks smaller than the sisters of silence who are behind him Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/174123-russ-mutated/#findComment-2062891 Share on other sites
Solid Zaku
Um, there's a handful of Russ pictures in the Collected Visions book, I've seen all of them. IMHO, if you're saying he's mutated, then by his standards, so is every single Space Wolf past or present. If that's your opinion, you're about to have more Space Wolves on you than a cat wrapped in Snausages. Grey Mage
I like Snausages..... :). That being said... ravengaurd are incredibly pale, salamanders are universally ebon black, the blood angels primarch had angelic wings! Space Wolves have overly large cannines, and tend to be rather hairy. All in all Id say thats not so bad... considering all marines are a bit of a mutated strane. Brother Mordeus
I dont think that Russ actually possessed a snout just seems a bit too unreal. Gives him a comical look in my mind. Even though the Space Wolves are based on a wolf iconography (obviously), lets not forget that they are also based on a nordic look. And and i didnt know that a new HH book was coming out so thats amazingly epic. Escpecially that the battle for prospero is something iv been waiting for impatiently. Solid Zaku
Actually, I thought they had Meat Loaf wear some cardboard boxes to model for the 'Prospero Burns' cover.
