GlauG
Apologies if this has come up before, but a search didn't produce anything useful. As a Seraphim VSS is still a Seraphim and benefits from all their usual special rules, does this mean that any pistols she buys (eg plasma) get to fire as if twin-linked? jeffersonian000
If she retains her two bolt pistols, they are treated as twin-linked. If she swaps they out for any other weapons from the armoury, she loses that ability. Eddie Orlock
Second sentence at the top of the page calls into question that it's even possible to buy two of the same pistol for a model. GlauG
Fair enough, that puts that one to bed fairly quickly then. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/174331-quick-seraphim-question/#findComment-2061253 Share on other sites
Toogeloo
Since the only non-Bolt Pistols she can buy are Inferno and Plasma are the same points cost as Master Crafting the weapon, it is essentially the same thing, the only difference is that she doesn't get the extra close combat attack, but for 1 point you can add that though. You can model her to hold two Plasma or two Inferno as well and call it good so long as you also paid the 1 point for the extra CCW. jeffersonian000
Toogeloo's suggestion is actually the best workaround, allowing a Vet Superior Seraphim to have a "twin-linked" pistol that "counts as" an extra CCW in close combat. The only downside is the huge expense in points it costs for little added value. GlauG
Do VSS count as "Adeptas Sororitas Heroines"? Because the Inferno is sadly Sororitas Heroines only. As it stands, one VSS has currently been given Plasma and a Brazier of Holy Fire... Expensive, but I imagine it will pay for itself in the Planetstrike games these ladies are being built for. Eddie Orlock
Since the only non-Bolt Pistols she can buy are Inferno and Plasma are the same points cost as Master Crafting the weapon, it is essentially the same thing, ...Only in the modern era. Historically, in fourth, there was the option for a model to plant its feet and rapid fire their pistol. In the unlikely event that the figure missed both, master crafting would have only allowed one re-roll, whereas twinlinking would have allowed both. There is the possibility that the rules may revert to this in sixth, but it is both unlikely and a few years out. Your mileage may vary, it's still a reasonable work around. Inquisitor Fox
Sadly they do not count as heroines. Ironic the basic Seraphim Sister can have Inferno Pistols but not her superior. I give mine a Plasma Pistol and Power Weapon and call it good, though the Eviscerator also seems to be a fairly popular choice. GlauG
I'm guessing the Eviscerator's popular due to the 3 2d6+6 attacks it gets as opposed to just a single 2d6+8 one? That and the capacity for instant death on IG or Eldar characters... With the VSS counting as a Simulacrum Imperialis I'm assuming it crunches out to keeping them about as survivable as the tag-team flying nun alternative for assassinations, with the bonus of Hit and Run.
