wiplash
Okay so i have been a member of this forum for a while now, and havent posted much of my own mainly because i sold all of my old stuff, partly because of funds, partly because of the fact that i barely used half of it, and partly because most of it was auful!! so i have decided to start a fresh, over the last, probably, 2 months now i have been assembling my new army!! although since the announcement of the new codex in october (or whatever) i have held back a bit not wanting to waste some models that will become obsolete. My dads away this week and has taken his camera with him, so i am stuck with a rubbishy one!! but with it being summer holidays i thought i should start posting my stuff. Couple of days ago i bought some stuffs of of the mighty ebay to strip so that they could join my forces: so now i have it... land raider a bit bashed up and missing a door, but ive got a bitz box XD sorry for the superbly bad pics, but that is what i shall be stripping (well i have already stripped some already!!) ill brb with an update Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/174370-my-army-in-progress/ Share on other sites
wiplash
okay so i have left them in fairy power spray and (when i poured it in) boiling water for about 24 hours ive scrubbed down one or two and in the progress of scrubbing the land raider (tedious work!!) i have to say that the boiling water may have been a mistake, nearly everything is fine, but, a few bases have warped (the land raider was worst effected - but it was at the top so hey) but its nothing unfixable, and i have the replacement lascannons in my bits already. so here they are in the ice cream tub atm: you can see the warped lascannons in the top right and i have fully scrubbed down a whole 2 models!! as you can clearly see metal is stripped much more effectively it looks good as new, it even takes off most of the super glue!! Marek Grimfang
Use an electric tooth brush when stripping the mini's. The extra scrubbing power greatly reduces time and effort. Stripped 3000 pts of Space Wolves that way. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/174370-my-army-in-progress/#findComment-2061476 Share on other sites
wiplash
Okay so here are some army shots ill upload more (better) pics when i have time/when my dad brings the good camera back so in the mean time: here are 87 foot soldiers - comprising of blood claws, grey hunters and wolf scouts my trike in progress, Wolf Lord or something special on a bike My wolf guard leaders so far: My Wolf Guard Battle leader (left), and something in termie armour (dunno what yet!!)(right) 2 standard bearers and a converted AOBR captain My ingenious (imo) long fang seargents My 5 bikers (1 chopper - wolf guard leader) Some wolves waiting for bases and green stuffing (run out of both!!) Some bodies awaiting usage My AOBR dognaught!!! thats it for now, you may notice that many of my parts are chaos, this is because i have purchased a few ebay bits auctions and have ended up with chaos stuff as well as SM stuff, so i am currently trying to write fluff for them around this chaos/BT/SW theme! th0r
This is usually why I prefer to use Mr Clean, for one it's cheap so you can just buy a bunch and pore it in to strip bigger things like a Land Raider. It's also perfectly safe to your models (I left plastics in for like over two weeks) and strip's anything (including heavily and badly primed black models). Anyway, nice to see your working on some new stuff and I look forward to seeing it painted up. edit: just saw another update when I posted, awesome bikes! wiplash
@ Marek: yep ive been using a combination of electric tooth brush and a stiff bristled normal one, i have to say they are roughly as effective! @ th0r: yeah there are loads of alternatives, but ive used fairy before so i knew it wasnt gonna kill me or anything!! but yeah there eally isnt enouygh in a bottle to strip larger things :) hmmm painting, it may eventually happen!! ty on the bikes i like them too :) not finished adding fur and things though, but thats on order Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/174370-my-army-in-progress/#findComment-2061523 Share on other sites

Vlad III
Try Simple Green. It's fantastic. Put 2-3 Models in a plastic cup and cover them with it. A good one night of soaking and some scrubbing stripped my Grey Knights in 12-18 hours, some of which had seen four+ coats of paint. It works wonders, is non-toxic, biodegradable, and (imho) smells quite nice. (It has a pleasant minty smell), and it's fairly cheap. wiplash
okay started undercoating the grey hunters and bloow claws, ive done probably 60-70 undercoated now, and have used an entire can of skull white!!! but ive got another upstairs so ill finish those up today also been cleaning up some of the models to be stripped, ive now completed 7 termies and 1 tac marine, having trouble stripping the tac marines :s im not sure why the paint just isnt come off anywhere near as easily as from the terminators, must have been painted differently hopefully i will start painting this week :D EDIT~: okay i have undercoated all of the GH and BC now, so i dunno how long it will take me to start painting them but hopefully ill start this week Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/174370-my-army-in-progress/#findComment-2062292 Share on other sites

wiplash
Oh, I laughed hard at your long fang sergeants, truly ingenious interpretation of the rules! ty mate thought it was quite ingenious myself :) i prefer the one with the servo arms but hey! been working on some long fangs too: been using running legs partly because it looks cool, and partly to represent the rumored moving and shooting rule that they may have in the next dex, as with the sergeants i wanted to reflect the rules also been starting painting: (sorry for crappy pics) armour base colour done and first layer on the pads men awaiting pads to be done not sure what colour to do the trims either..... EDIT~: euurgh just replaced the batteries on my camera, and it wont turn on!! luckily the good camera is coming back tomorrow Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/174370-my-army-in-progress/#findComment-2066389 Share on other sites
Marshal van Trapp
hmm i like the idea of the running legs, i always think of wolves running, regardless of WHAT they are armed with haha, so even if they don't have that rule in the new dex it fits with their fluff Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/174370-my-army-in-progress/#findComment-2066410 Share on other sites
biggassmonkey
@ th0r: yeah there are loads of alternatives, but ive used fairy before so i knew it wasnt gonna kill me or anything!! but yeah there eally isnt enouygh in a bottle to strip larger things  why not? personally i've used it to spray (not soak) a land raider and a rhino, half an hour later (15 - 20 mins of the spray just sitting on the models) both were pretty much clean of paint after a little bit of scrubbing with no damage (apart from the front of the rhino had been ripped in half by the previous owner...i pulled it off and turned the rhino into a vindicator :/) . i used a rough backed sponge to scrub with, with hindsight a toothbrush would have been much better...oh well ^^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/174370-my-army-in-progress/#findComment-2066587 Share on other sites
