Aside from stealing from other models, what I did was take one of those tiny cylinder "end" pieces that you see on the plastic sprues all the time, and wrapped greenstuff around it. I then carved slits into it to make it look like a melta. I thought it looked pretty good, not the best, but then I forgot exactly which models I did it to, and I really had to look up close to be able to tell - so I think it works pretty good.
