Firenze
The Helmets would be best for the Thousand Sons. Other than that the bits would be perfect. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/174500-pre-heresy-army-idea/#findComment-2063072 Share on other sites
Sons of Horus
the helmets look great but seem very IW-ish :woot: they're all great of course. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/174500-pre-heresy-army-idea/#findComment-2063161 Share on other sites
Pacific81
Those bits from Maxmini are indeed great for PH modelling! IMO, probably one of the most useful releases we have had since the Forgeworld released there Red Scorpions veterans pack. Essentially I think Maxmini have based these on the various artwork in Collected Visions. The first helmet is indeed a thousand Sons one, the second is a mk3 variation pattern used by the Ultramarines, the 3rd seems very similar to the one worn by Khârn (minus the appendages), and the 4th and 5th are mk3 and mk2 respectively. Yes, they do look alot like the ones warn by Post-Heresy Iron Warriors, but thats partly because thats where some of their equipment has come from. I would say the last 2 could be used widely for any PH legion, and the first 3 are legion specific although might be usable outside this in the odd case. The torso you have linked is the mk6 variation - arguably pre-heresy (it appears in Battle for the Abyss), but only just. The Warhammer 40k compilation describes it as coming into service just as Horus was moving the pieces into place for his attempted coup. So its fine to use, but it kind of restricts your army to a period right at the end of the Great Crusade if you want your force to be as chronologically accurate as possible. On the same webpage, 'Torso C', a solid piece of chest plate, is a more accurate version for mk3 armour. The legs are also mk6, although are useful if you are converting to a mk4 armour type (just cut a horizontal line accross it below where the knee should be) The jump pack is bloody excellent, and very very useful. Check out my blog (linked in my signature) if you want a more detailed explanation of the above! :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/174500-pre-heresy-army-idea/#findComment-2063434 Share on other sites
