Blood Ravens attempt

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm new to the forum, joined about half an hour ago, but I would like to share some of my new Blood Ravens.

Like I said I'm new, so please forgive me for any mistakes I might make with this!

I don't really play the 40k tabletop game, i'm not entirely interested in points or if my models are codex poper, I just like to try my best at modelling an painting.

I started these Blood Ravens a few months ago, although I do have an Ultramarine Amy too (however they're old and not well painted).

So here we are, I'd appreciate any feedback and advice from you guys, i've seen some of your works and they ae blooming good

You've got some real nice looking models there. I like the bone colour you've achived - nice and smooth. The terminator sergeants face is nice and crisp too.

A couple of pieces of advice:

Try a little watered down Gryphonne Sepia wash on the bone coloured areas - just in the recesses. It will make it pop!

Either a black or maybe a blue wash over the metal areas will give them more definition too.

All in all, some very nice models!

Again thanks for the advice really appreciate it :D ,

I've just been looking at another topic on here about paint stripping, which I've put into use and I'm trying to strip the paint from my old Ultramarine Techmarine, if all goes well then in a couple of days you might see some pics of a starying Blood Raven Army

if the techmarine works out well then i'll try the same with my dreadnought and maybe my Assault termie squad, so fingers crossed!

Two words. Simple Green.

Check it out and run with it. It is a fantastic paint stripper. There's a real good how-to with it on Librarium linky.

Looking good, though I do agree with the idea of some washes to make those shoulder pads pop a bit more.

hey nice modals really nicly painted just asking which version of chapter logo do you use

I use a number of logo designs, they're all different, just my own styles.

I have been reading that paint stripping article actually and have put it to use, I had an old ultramarine Techmarine, I thought it's better than buying a new one, so I started off wit h Dettol, which was a recommendation on that link and the only thing we had in the house! It worked quite well just took a while, but I bought some non acetone nail varnish remover today and It's a Godsend, worked brilliantly.

The pieces have been undercoated and I will start painting soon, however I have seemed to have lost one of the arms and cannot find it anywhere! Will keep looking though

Very nice, I'd like to see more. Definitely!

In contrast, as an improvement - though they're hard to come by - try just making them that little bit more professional with the highlighting and maybe spray some purity seal as I find it makes them look very nice.

I'm not saying this by personal experience - I'm only 14 and not as good as you yet - but just from looking at it.
