Welcoming new Wolves!

I have only been playing 40k a little over a year and started with Dark Angels. However, I found that I liked the fluff and style of the Wolves better, so I switched over just before the announcement of the new codex. When I joined here, I was welcomed and greeted enthusiastically by a fun loving, rowdy bunch that made me feel right at home. Had I been a couple months later, i wonder if I would have felt the same, seeing how some of the members here are treating our newest pack brothers. Yes, some are coming just because they will want to play the newest Codex and will be gone shortly, but many others have all of a sudden realized how much fun the Wolves are to play and will be long term, loyal Wolves. So please guys, let's make the new ones feel as welcome now, as you did to me a few months ago.

Exactly :) . My wolves are my first army, and like youself and many here in the Fang, I play them for the general badassness of the background, models and codex first and foremost.

The Fang is the most welcoming 40k board I have been on and that is purely down to the atmosphere created by the mods and the rowdy bunch of ne'er do wells who are currently propping up the bar in the corner ;) . Because of this atmospshere, I have learnt much about the wolves and 40k in general over my first few years in the hobby - so thanks guys :) !

Have faith brother Warhorse, although our paitence may be tested in the coming months, i'm pretty sure that the Fang will still be the most welcoming place this side of Fenris :) . This is because our current brothers will still be here and Russ and the Allfather will sort out our new brothers over the coming months. Once the dust has settled, we will have a larger, fun-loving, rip-roaring pack than before! :D

Cheers

You have to remember tho, when a new wolf comes into the pack he must be tested and find his place within. In the wild you earn your place and respect, and so it should be in the Fang. Let the new blood and let them prove themselves in battle. There and only there will you see their true heart.

I'm just a young Bloodclaw when it comes to it. The only reason I chose the wolves is they suit my play style, I like to watch the light fade from my enemies eyes rather then sit in some bunker like a Dark Angel.

In the end there was always going to be a lot of interest in the new Codex, I remember playing my friends wolves in the 3rd edition and never had as much fun playing any other army. He no longer plays so I decided that to take up his banner, if that wrong I don't want to be right!

The Fang is always welcome to new Wolves, but the new Codex does mean we will get a lot of wishy washy's who pick up every new Codex regardless, play it for a few months then leave and we haven't had to deal with that temporary influx for a long time. Fortunately it won't likely last long and those Wolves who do belong will remain and join us in rounds of ale and slaughter.

However all our patiences will undoubtably be tested and I wouldn't be surprised to see some new members treated with less warm welcome and more suspicion but I doubt any wolf brothers will treat the new meat outright poorly and things will settle down quickly enough.

Everything goes smoother though when the Bloodclaws make use of our wonderfull resources and don't pester the Long Fangs with rookie questions out the wazoo. A little effort on the part of the Blood Claws goes a long way towards speeding their growth into full fledged Sons of Russ.

Hear Hear! While 40k is fun in and of itself, I probably would not play were it not for the friendliness of the Fang. I have nothing to offer on this forum save my own personal wit and nuttiness, which would be frowned upon anywhere else online (just go look at the smurf part of the b&c, sheesh!). Having a place to trade ideas and bad jokes about fluff really does make a difference, making the rest of the game much more enjoyable. Three cheers to ye, warhorse, and have an ale!

Eh, theres always been a trickle of Newbies... though goodness knows we might get alot of lost topics in the sea of introductions this october. Still, always nice to have a fresh batch of bloodclaws....

Besides... look at it this way, all the PGs that are jumping on the bandwagon will help reveal parts of the codex that more stable minds might miss ^_^. We can then combine this with tried and true tactics from our ___ years of gaming and get a headstart on the new codex.

Hrm... using the bloodclaws as sheer intellectual cannon-fodder to better destroy our enemies and leave the remainder with a high level of experiance, somehow this just seems to fit.

The rules are clear on our entire board. Treat others nicely. Give good advice. Further the hobby no matter why they are playing/participating. There should be no shouts of "band wagoner". All should be welcome as it only helps us in the end. (either folks stay and maintain the spirit of the wolf, or the collect(spend money) wolves and show GW that there is a strong base so that remain relevant in their business.

Also note, that being rude to new wolves may turn them off and they may think all SW's are rude.

Aye good stuff you speak Warhorse and the rest of ye! This means alot to the new pack ( myself included ) I hope to hang on to the Wolves for a good while (if not my entire gaming life!) So pass the ale and meat and raise a toast to Russ and the Allfather!!!!!

*works with Mekboyz and Iron Priests to construct a True Wolf Player screening device over entrance to the Fang*

So I shouldn't put the punji pits full of karniverus kave squigz and face eatin' squigz then? Just in case? Please...

Gork knows all the ale and food will be taken by the Blood Claws, so get ready for lean times in the upcoming months my brothers. Hide your Fangtwistertm so they don't steal that from ya!

And I can make no promises about not Exterminatussocking a few of them for good measure, especially if they touch the ES.

Long time Wolf-player like myself generally just find it nice when new players find the way into the great hall.

I, personally, got some problems with new people telling us old wolves "what's space wolves, and what's not" like they've been playing them since 2nd eidtion. However! That has yet to happen here (just a couple of run ins with lamers like that in real life), and I find every new face in the fang these days to be serious space wolves with the right attitude d(Ô_Ô)b

And I guess some of the play-them-for-the-codex guys are bound to get stuck in the fluff-ness of our dear chapter. Because, seriouslt, the other Angels and templars and whatnot don't come close to us when it comes to cool backstory :D

Well young pup. You have made this old fang happy, heres an ale for posting this. Now ill go back to my corner and continue drinking heavily till the new dex comes out. But I warn you all...if any of you young pups gets out of line, I WILL BE THROWING BLOOD CLAWS!!! Its happened before, dont think it wont happen again.

:: marches off ::

yeah space wolves are my first army too

then again it has been for the last 5-7 years :)

and ive only collected one other army, but still its quite good really this is the first time that an army i am collecting gets new codex, let alone new models, im excited XD

I've got to say this post is somewhat of a relief for me. I'm intending to return to the wolves after a near 5 year hiatus from 40k. While there's a small chance some may remember me, I was worried I'd be pinned as just another of the bandwagon jumpers in a couple months when I start posting regularly again.

I'm sure that won't be the case. I look forward to returning.

I've been long in the hobby (from playing the old games like Chaos Gate and Fire Warrior and such and reading the books) but have only recently started playing, and only really started trying out much in the way of conversion, etc...

Space Wolves interested me right away, but I went with other armies because I really didn't think at that time I could manage GS or painting well enough to come close to matching the feel and vision my friends Space Wolves (a whole great company, 90% of a second, and the Old Wolf and his personal guard/retainers) had imparted to me.

So, as my modeling skills came up to snuff, the Space Wolves started being rumored to be re-done soon. And I am a modeler on a budget, and after seeing what happened to my Emperors Children with the new dex, I decided to hold off on starting the Space Pups until I had seen what GW would do. In the end, I am new to the army, but i've been a fan and gamed with them for years now. It was always quite fun to take my friends army and go to the LGS and be able to provide armies for 5 people to play  (I loved stacking ragnar, wgbl, and maxed bc in an lrc... so much fun).

So, I still doubt my painting, I still doubt my skills, but my love and interest for this army has only been mounting as I have seen Salamanders been degenerated into coal-black skin power-gamer armies and the BA got the nut-kick treatment like DA... And I finally realized... What's the excuse... They have axes! And roast boar! And ale! And Mead! And fightin! And Story-telling! And did I mention the ale and fighting?

Dont worry, I remember you!

Wise topic brother. I do my best to welcome as many of the whelps in a friendly manner as possible, after all we're all wolf-brothers are we not? At the end of the day you've decided to play our dex and that's fine. I mean you may find after a couple of months that the play style is not for you and you move on. It's what I did with Tau all those years ago.
I can't help thinking that many of these new players only come here cause we will be getting a new dex.

So ill just won't reply to "Hy i'am new here" posts. Saves alot of trouble.

thats a fair enough point . Better not to say anything than to say something nasty. Like I keep saying we will soon enough sort the wheat from the chaff. :(

Or in our case the True wolves from the sheep in wolves clothing.

@Jaarl Stormclaw. Dont worry brother, even though you have been gone for a long while your scent is still familiar to some of us
