WIP Ironclad, Wolf Lord and Rune Priest

Okay, so I've been a member on here for a while, but I've still not got back into playing after havnig a break for 10yrs, mainly because I'm waiting for the new codex to come out before assembling my army. However, I have been busy converting a large squad of terminators, my Wolf Lord, and Rune Priest. Yesterday was the first time in years I walked into a GW store, I needed some paints (some of mine were so old they'd fossilized!) and I also wanted an Ironclad.

Anyway, only started this yesterday and it's a bit rough. I absolutely hate the dreadnaught legs, they have always looked like they have been squashed to me, so I've ordered some IG Sentinels and I'm going to convert the dread with bigger, longer legs as I've seen one or two other people do. I also dislike the small sarcophagus covers, so I used an old Rhino front hatch which fits well and beefs the front end up. I also haven't decided on where to put the GS wolf pelt, whether to go over one arm, both, or stay in the middle of the main body? Any suggestions?

Here is my finished Wolf Lord, armed with master crafted thunder hammer and storm shield (not shown). I've based him on the heathen warlord seen at the beginning of the film Gladiator (hence the huge hammer!). Apologies for the photo I forgot to take pics before I sprayed him, but you ge the gist. This is one of the longest conversions I've ever done, and I've done a few lol. Based on the Chaos Termie Lord legs/rear torso/cape, old Long Fang Sergeant head/torso, old Blood Claw Sergeant right hand, large warhammer hammer, Forgeworld shoulder pads, TWO Logan Grimnar wolf capes, and a lot of greenstuff. I've tried to keep him pretty clean, as with most of my conversions, as i don't like to over-wolf things for the sake of it. The hardest part of this was getting the hand positions correct in relation to the shoulders and face.

And my Rune Priest, with Frost Axe and Thunder Hammer (for the time being). Based on a standard plastic termie, with 2mm card inserted to raise the torso, Njal Stormcallers head/body, some ramdom dwarf axe I had, and some random hammer head I had as well! This was a relatively easy converision as all I had to do was chop up Njal and use a bit of greenstuff to blend it all in.

Will post some photos of my CC termies when I've painted the armour (they're all black ATM).

Initial impression is they look good. But trying to see the details with black primer is a waste of energy. I generally use grey primer even if I have to use it in layers as I add sculpting and touch it up over and over (sometimes). I may change my opinion from good to impressive (for instance) when newer/follow up shots are taken and presented.

No offense, but I hate black primer. It has it's purposes, sure, just on things like Chaos and vehicles more than personel, IMO. Looking forward to more shots when details can be discerned.

No the icon is a lot larger than the one on the old sprue, the one I've used on the dread is a forgeworld icon. I know what you mean about black primer, but I started painting the Lord today and hope to get a fair bit done on him this week.
