AdeptusDavidus
so a charging handle is like, when you see marines pull that handle on their weapons in DoW, and it moves a bolt into the barrel (well the cylinder inside the gun that extends into the barrel) so basically, it would be a grip that would be pulled back, on the left side of the weapon, that would function to manually move ammunition in case of a jam, correct? Yes, exactly. :) If you did decide to build a belt-fed one, I would suggest buying a length of 3/4" PVC pipe and cutting that into sections, to use as the "bolts". Wouldn't be hard to cap the ends and dress them up a bit, and then you could just make a cloth belt for them to (very snugly) fit into. Marshal van Trapp
ah that would be very easy! maybe i'll look into them tonight, ok so i need an ejection port, a charging handle, and to look into a belt feed, got it! Firenze
Not a belt feed. I advise against it. Very fiddly to make and not as simple to reload as a mag. Dont make the charging handle too large either. The boltguns have a smallish one on the side. And dont bolt pistols have ejection points on the top? Or is that a certain pattern? Marshal van Trapp
actually looking at my BT's bolt pistol, i don't see a charging handle or an ejection port, i believe that little notch in the top may actually be an ejection port although i took some pictures and i noticed a few little things i can't explain... here are the pics: http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f12/Comm_Nagrom/Prop%2040k%20Guns/boltpistolRight.jpg http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f12/Comm_Nagrom/Prop%2040k%20Guns/boltpistolleft.jpg some of those bits are odd, but i'm sure they all have some function to the gun edit: upon looking i believe that the "no clue what this is" is actually the locking mechanism for the mag... Firenze
The button is probably to eject rounds manually. And yes, that is the ejection port. It opens and closes with the recoil to help it reload and eject cartridges. The thing above the mag is a unlock to allow the mag to be removed and it pops up again when a new mag is in. Marshal van Trapp
ok so i've figured out where the ejection port is, and think i've located the charging handle, so all i need now is to finish the main body, add all the details, and bang, i got my prototype bolt pistol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/175145-my-next-great-project/page/2/#findComment-2080617 Share on other sites
Brother_Zach
Your right about the 'No clue what that is". Thats the mechanism that drops the magazine. Now, I've never really looked at a bolt pistol. I did once make a bolter out of cardboard and an old water gun which wasn't as big, but was still awesome. So with that being said, my charging handle was on the rear of the ejection port (when the bolt is closed it would move foward, I was 12 and this took me like a day to make so it wasnt this detailed). My ejection port was located centered, (if I recall) right above my magazine on the weapon's casing. If you've ever played CoD 4, you'll notice on the AK 47 has a charging handle simmilar to what I've described. On these types of weapons, I've never herd them called "charging handles", rather, they were addressed as if they were apart of the bolt. Debate this if you wish, its the eaisest way to describe what I'm talking about. You could use this and make a Master-crafted bolt pistol. ps. my borther looks like harry potter as well. sgtNACHO
Wierd flat bit, perhaps a safety? I know Bolters have crazy mind links and such and know when you want to fire and such, but it couldn't hurt could it? Hope everything comes together nicely. Marshal van Trapp
Hey everybody, i know i haven't updated in a while but i figured since its almost done i might as well post the new pics, for your viewing enjoyment i present, the SM scale bolt pistol in its final stages! http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f12/Comm_Nagrom/Prop%2040k%20Guns/DSCN1225.jpg http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f12/Comm_Nagrom/Prop%2040k%20Guns/DSCN1224.jpg http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f12/Comm_Nagrom/Prop%2040k%20Guns/DSCN1225.jpg I'm thinking the magazine looks a bit odd so i'm thinking of remaking it, any suggestions? ShinyRhino
Neat project. One criticism is that your trigger well is too close to the magazine well. You'd be hard-pressed to put a trigger mechanism in that spot, let along pull the trigger itself. :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/175145-my-next-great-project/page/2/#findComment-2261927 Share on other sites
Marshal van Trapp
hmm, well i mean i was just working off, you know, a tiny little plastic model of a bolt pistol, i'm trying to make it look as perfect as i can but i mean its going to be a little off sometimes.... Capt. Lysander
The trigger area is indeed a bit squished. I always like these threads on life sized scale weapons, and yours is no exception! Great job! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/175145-my-next-great-project/page/2/#findComment-2267886 Share on other sites
