GK Outposts

I never found fluff saying yes or no to that question. There was the wish to build a little monastry for my GK strike force - as a battlefield.

I have bought several city fight building sprues and the Citadel gaming board. Hope there is some fludff related to monastry-like outposts. :woot:

There's no fluff I know of, but I'd imagine some of the secret Inquisitorial fortresses have Chamber Militant forces permanently attached. I can't help thinking that's all they need - they don't have to worry about administration themselves, and they can keep an eye on the Inquisitors by not sectioning themselves off in another outpost.

Then again, if it's just a monastery, I doubt they'd openly use their iconography. An Ecclesiarchal Chapel would probably look very similar (by accident or by design).

In short, if you want them to have their own little hideaway - meh, we don't know either way. If you just want some terrain, just build it - there's plenty of other things it could pass for.

That's a hard one to approach. I'm initially tempted to agree with GM Tyrak. Monasteries amongst other things provide something of a support & logistics function. As a chamber militant it would be easier for the GK to rely on the existing infrastructure of Inquisitorial Fortress. Beyond that, I could also GK being fleet based and simply going where they're needed.

However it is a big universe. While the only fortress monastery I know of is on Titan, it's entirely possible that there could be 1-2 in the other segmentums that serve as way stations. These could be Inquisitorial Fortresses that are say 90% GK use. A possible reason for a fortress monastery could be a detachment of GKs in a region of space that frequently sees Chaos Incursion i.e. near the Maelstrom or the Eye of Terror.

Well I would say there are no places with idle grey knights other than on titan and possibly in inquisitation fortresses' I would make an inquisitation fortress with some nice grey knight chapter symbols on it. They tell the public "oh its just the the symbol of this fortress" But there happnes to be a good 50 grey knights ,including a brother captain, in there because its near the eye of terror. How bout that?

I am going to agree with the use of Inquisition fortresses, i.e Nemesis Tesera ( or however it is spelt) as staging posts for Grey Knights. After all, they do form a greater whole and the majority of these forts are secret. Plus, even with the best Battle Barges, if the Grey Knights were posted in just one place, they would have difficulty protecting the whole Imperium. Plus, even Grey Knights would suffer if they were completely isolated. Inquisition forts give them a place to re-arm and spiritually attune themselves.
