ransem
What colors do people use when painting skin/faces for their pack? I've noticed quite a few tanned/pale skinned wolves and I'm wondering also if anyone has done a more ruddy approach (aka Dwarf Flesh) as to be more norse.... -ish. So far my attempts have been called "bloody" (my buddy said it looks like my faces have had fresh blood recently washed off or something) though I'm quite dissatisfied with them. EDIT In case your wondering what I'm currently doing for flesh is: Base: Dwarf Flesh Wash: Lining with Flesh Wash (probs what I hate about my flesh the most is the shiny gleam I get from FW) First Highlight: 50/50 Dwarf Flesh to Elf Flesh (or "Elder Flesh" as one of my friends calls it :woot: ) Second Highlight: Elf Flesh I'd post pics but I don't have a decent setup atm as I'm in the process of rearranging my house. Dewi Sant
EDITIn case your wondering what I'm currently doing for flesh is: Base: Dwarf Flesh Wash: Lining with Flesh Wash (probs what I hate about my flesh the most is the shiny gleam I get from FW) First Highlight: 50/50 Dwarf Flesh to Elf Flesh (or "Elder Flesh" as one of my friends calls it :D ) Second Highlight: Elf Flesh That's the same combination of colours that I use, but instead of the Flesh Wash try using Ogryn Flesh from the new wash range. After the final highlight of Elf Flesh I give the whole face a watered down wash of Ogryn flesh to help tie it all together. Hope this helps. TeamLando
I paint mine like this: Basecolour: Bestail Brown + Dwarf Flesh, about 1+1. Next colour: Dwarf flesh, leaving some of the base colour in the crevices. Next colour: Dwarf flesh + elf flesh, 1+1 leaving some of the previous too in and around same crevices. Next colours: Elf flesh, justa bit, leaving the dwarf flesh where it looks good. Next colour: Elf flesh+white, very little, on the nose tip, and the cheeks and forehead. Looks like this, eventually: Not the best Pic, but you'll get the idea. warboy
except for people with scars, i don't use dwarf flesh. i think dwarf flesh is the PERFECT colour for scar tissue. my preferred method: undercoat with white basecoat with Bronzed Flesh (no longer in production, but i managed to pick up a couple of pots from my local GW retailer, they weren't on the shelf, i had to ask for it) mid-tone with Elf Flesh fine detail highlight with bleached bone or if i want a slightly more weathered appearance, i go with: black undercoat basecoat with snakebite leather large mid-tone with bronzed flesh (very little snakebite leather showing) highlight with Elf flesh or for the "comic book" look, white undercoat basecoat snakebite leather mid-tone bronzed flesh highlight bleached bone i ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS thin down my paints when doing this, as it makes the layers blend in smoother, and avoids getting any lumps, bumps or otherwise unsmoothness on your angry little bastard's face (who wants to go to war covered in tumors? APART from nurgle-ites) using washes on anything but hair/fur feels like cheating to me.
