Battle Rep V. Vanilla marines

ok tonight i played a game with my footslogging list against a vanilla marine list here was my list:

 

HQ

he had a list something like:

 

shrike

6 10-man tac squads with a plasmagun and lascannon each

2 10man assault squads with a PF each

 

we played an annihilation mission with dawn of war setup

 

i played my sloggers like most people say to, big squad up front led by the chappy and the other big one led by the EC. shielding the smaller squads, the only problem with that, he focused fire on one squad at a time, i ended up killing both his assault squads (the EC killed shrike) and 3 of his tac squads, but i was left with only the dread he beat me by 2 KP, i got really lucky a couple of times, but he ended up blowing most of my army (and his own men, heh silly plasma) from shooting, shrike almost single handedly killed my assault squad, and apparently assault squads can run (so with shrike they can fleet, that is soooooo broken....)

 

other than that, i had fun, but hey, when you play against a cheese list from someone who hates to lose, you learn to take your loses with a grain of salt... or is that wins... meh what ever haha

I used to field a fotslogger list, (89 models in 1500 pts) in 4th edition. but now u need transports,

Dont use neophytes, with prefered enemy the initiates dont need them anymore.

Why u use a chaplain? u alrdy reroll with "Accept any challenge..."

Use rhinos with smoke launcher(the BT smoke launcher has the old rules: the vehicle just get glancing hits).

Chaplains give neos re-rolls when they initiate the assault and they get to choose where to RZ + they automatically pass RZ moves with an extra 3 inches cos of those cenobytes, they're still useful imo. I think neos are important too, they're great for keeping your initiates in fighting form for when u hit the enemy lines. Maybe a Marshal and another big squad with neos to instead of ten man squads if u have the points would improve your list, meh it's worth playtesting imo anyway. At least your EC killed Shrike, that's always something to brag about.

chaplain give the unit re-roll on EVERYTHING ... both for the neos as well as against vehicles ...

 

also the ymake the unit fearless so no need to roll morale.

 

I use one in my 10man terminator squad just to be able to get faster forward guaranteed =)
