1700-ish pts of Salamenders

Here's a Salamender army I'm building for a tournament at the FLGS on September 12th and 13th. Here's my progress 3 weeks in.

 

Vulkan, lamest model ever produced. I rarely convert models past kit-bashing, but I just had to on this one...

Shoulder pads. I made moulds of the first version so I can copy it... Painful process but I like the results.

The only completed troop. These boys all have running legs as they go in a drop pod. The shoulder plate is Alpha Legions with the chaos pointy-things cut out.

The Drop Pods. Notice the dread-pod with Locator Beacon.

Terminators. I'm waitong on the FW shoulder Plates for these guys. The sarge as one of the moulded Icon.

Dreadnought. It's almost done painting atm, I like out it's turned out for an AoBR model.

Land Raiders. Most of this is blue-tac, I'm waiting for plates and doors from FW and I have no idea how they fit on them, so I'm waiting...

On a happy note, I've received my stuff from the nice fellows at Forgeworld. 2 Land Raider Extra Armor, 2 Land Raider Salamender dorrs sets and the salamenders Shoulder PAds!

 

Expect an update as soon as I can get my hands unglued of my desk :tu:

I like your take on Vulkan, he looks great like this. My only critics (for the moment) would be the green. I know you're going for a Pre-Heresy feel for your Salamanders, but I think you have shaded just a little too much. The reddish brown you used for the shadow is great, but we kind of loose the green dominance of the models. Maybe you could make another layer of green after the shadows an try to blurr the two shades together.

The Green is really neutral but if that's your preference than I guess that's fine. Overall looks like they're coming together nicely, always good to see a lesser known Chapter get some TLC.
