Guard-heavy DH versus DH-heavy Guard?

When I'm not working with my GF on her WH or Orks, I'm usually doing something for my Dark Angels. For a change of pace, I assembled a 1500pt "Fallen Angels" Chaos SM army, but a chat about it with one of the staff at my local GW brought up a good point; the Fallen are supposed to be extremely rare, enough of them to form an army is probably pushing it. He suggested something he'd been toying with for an Alpha Legion warband; "Counts-As" IG and Daemonhunters, with Grey Knights standing in for powerful CSM. I like the irony of a GKGM being the ruleset for a powerful Traitor Librarian, but beyond that I'm a bit unsure of how to go. I want a core of solid, elite units (At the very least, a GKGM + small Retinue) surrounded by a lot of meat shields, backed up by some decent armour. Do any of the DH players here often use a lot of inducted Guard, or conversely sometimes just ally some DH units to an IG army? Given that the DH don't have great Heavy Support besides the Orbital Strike, I'm thinking that the new Guard's overpowered combos of characters and orders would make one lean in that direction. In terms of play style, I like the idea of an "Earth" army with two strong Deep Striking units to annoy enemy armour or things kept back near the rear, supported by Artillery and massed las-fire...

On a semi-related note, from my reading of the Guard 'dex, the Orders system doesn't say anything about the /recipient/ of the order needing to be an IG unit, only a "friendly" one. While the chances of you actually wanting to use them are rare (since non-IG units would probably have very different roles in your army than sitting near enough the Command Squad to receive), you could theoretically use "Bring it Down! " (weapons count as twin-linked against a nominated vehicle or MC) and "Fire on my Target!" (forces an opponent to re-roll successful cover saves on a nominated unit) on Stormtroopers, Grey Knights, or even an Inquisitor and retinue (!) if this is the case. Unfluffy to say the least, but technically legal as far as I can tell, unless there's an errata for it...

If it were me, I'd build an IG army and take GK allies. The old IG codex had doctrines and more flexibility, the new IG codex is just all kinds of awesome. You'll get plenty of GK goodness (or "badness", shame on you) allied in no problem.

YOU EVIL DAEMON POSSESED CHAOS WORSHIPPING TRAITOR!

Yeh guard with DH allies is the way to go and our orbital strikes SUCK so don't worry.

Although our crusader is a lot better than normal marines so that would be the only thing that should lure you away.
