Hi everyone...heres a thread dedicated to my new deathguard army. I put this up in the WIP section but thought i'd post it here as well for a more nurgle inclined crowd. For the time being it will only be modeling and sculpting...the painting will come later during our "A Tale of X Gamers 40k version" later on in the year.

I decided to convert my daemon princes from the forgeworld plague ogryn models. Never really liked the existing GW or FW models. The ogryn was a little small so I chopped him up and pinned the various body parts with paper clips to make him larger...i forgot a scale shot but hes roughly twice the height of a black reach space marine...

I wanted to pose the DP as if he were stalking some poor guardsman...what do yall think of the pose?

I think the pose is cool. I'd need to see it with fleshed out limbs etc. but it looks promising.

Can you give us a lowdown of the parts?

I'm especially interested in the wings and the metal arm (Edit: which I guess if from an Ogre tyrant/bruiser kit).

Looking forward to more conversions and the eventual paintwork!

So I have the basic shapes blocked out a bit with some details added. I'll smooth down the scuplting and add more details next...

I was planning on sculpting an armored shoulder pad on his right shoulder and a metal gut plate as well...

@Scoobyshag: haha...yeah i love the plague ogryn sculpts...much better than the existing DP models imho

@Plaguebearer: yep im gonna try to accentuate the sagging belly aspect as much as i can...i think ill have the gut plate be cracked open with his guts spilling out of it...

So heres what I was thinking about for the color scheme.

I wanted it to resemble the ol' deathguard colors...when the dirty white and pea green color. I'll be using all FW models for PMs so the green wont be as dominating (shoulders and legs will have dark bronze/gold trims and details). all metal parts such as the backpack and exhaust and belt will be a dark rusty metal color to give the impression of age. What do ya think?

I like the color scheme and layout. Is that a default eye color? I am using a dark orange (looks like the color of a pumpkin) for my PMs eyes and detail colors. It might work well with this color layout, too (my color wheel is out in the shed, and I am lazy :) ) . Where you thinking of the same pea soup green for your Bolter/weapon casings, or the dark umber brown?

I have been lurking for a bit (no time for forum posting fun), and I really dig the FW conversions you have been doing.

Monte

@Doomleague: Thanks for your input Monte. Youre right about the color scheme/wheel...i think i need more cool colors...pea green, yellow'd white, umber are all warm...so what if i used a green with some blue in it? I originally went with the green because green works better for lighting effects imho but two diff shades of green might clash a bit...i think the orange would blend too much with the weathered white (has some orange in it)...what if i went with blue? oh and yep the bolter casing will also be the dark umber color

Glad you like the conversions! let me know if you think i should try anything to make em better, thanks!
