Fleash Tearers!

Grimm Blade

Recommended Posts

I have started to put together a FT force using models and bitz that I had lying around.

I have enough models to make:

1 5 man RAS

1 5 man scout assault squad

1 5 man scout sniper squad

1 10 man tactical squad

And a Chaplain

Here is some of the progress I have made to date.

I agree that the fist looks big, but it is a power fist afterall, I am ok with it ;)

I am not sure if I should model blood drops onto the chapter symbol or paint them on later.

Any thoughts?

I just finished reading Red Fury by James swallow, and I loved it.

It got me to thinking though :)

Do you guys think I should take the purity seals off of my RAS' jump packs or leave them on?

I know that the FTs are minimalist when it comes to their war gear and I was not sure if this would flow over into a lack of purity seals or not? Thoughts.......?

Thanks.

For the red:

I based him black

Applied two thin coats of scab red

washed with Badab black

applied another thin coat of scab red

highlighted with two thin coats of blood red

washed with a thined Badab black.

As for the eyes, I am going for a glowing eye look without using source lighting.

Wow you have some talented GS skills. It looks simple, but I'm sure its more difficult than it seems.

The first FT is a wonderful marine, an entire army of that standard would look very swell. Keep up the good work. (and kick your butt into higher gear, and work more!)

LOL!!! OK, OK.....

Here is my second FT of the evening. This is the veteran sergeant for the squad.

This is definitely the standard I am going to paint these guys to.

Fantastic work man. It's too bad the new codex has us turning all cuddly fluffwise.

Keep the rage alive Brother!

Very nice flesh tearers there. How do you do the chipping? It looks amazing.

Thank you first of all :P

The technique is VERY simple. When I am finished shading/highlighting, etc... I water down some GW Boltgun metal, and apply to the areas I want to appear work with a thin brush.

Then I wash it with Badab black to take a lo of the shine out of it.

That's it ! LOL :)

Nice models, LOVE the red might do a FT army myself, if you dont mind, I'm pretty sure it the blood angels devistatotrs that have blue helmets and even than only the devistators.

BTW, how do you do the GS FT symbol

I am reading Black Tide and Puluo (who carries a Heavy Bolter) has a blue helmet but is the member of a regular squad, so I wasn't sure.

For the Chapter symbol I make a ball of GS, flatten it onto the shoulder with a sculpting tool, then mke the teeth with the tip of an exacto knife. Simple but fiddly.

I am not sure if I will buy Seth (Chapter Master) or not (I probhably will  )............If I do, he will need to be customized, he has a baby face and does not look rough enough to be a Flesh Tearer as far as I am concerned. He will need scars, and he is supposed to have a metal plate on his head from an enhancement he has.

Astorath however, will definitley make a nice addition though :P I am thinking of using him as either a Company master, or have him be the FT's High Chaplain! I was thinking that a squad of Sanguine guard painted dark red with black wings would work nicely as his honour guard. I was also thinking about sculpting muscle onto them in the samme fashion as the Astorath figure.

Well, I was just going off the cuff, sort of.

If a novel suggests it, and more importantly, if you think it will look cool, then go for the blue helmet on Heavy Weapons Guy (sandvich). They're your models, after all - you're in charge of them.

Really nice looking FT's mate. The chipping effects work really well. On the blue helmet thing, go with what you think looks cool. Though I personally look at it the same way a S. Bloodhowl in that only Dev's would have Blue helmets. Looking forward to more.

Really liking that Veteran Sarge with the terminator power fist, it fits the pose perfectly. I'm gonna file that away for a future conversion project. The paintwork is top notch too, can't wait to see more of these :P
