kiwitexansfan
I'm new to 40k and DH really appeal to me because of their war on chaos. Given this I figure the cheapest way into the game is the AOBR boxset. Is the cheapest way into DH, the AOBR boxset, 2 6-man Stormtrooper sets and an Inquisitor? I figure I could run a 500pt army as Inquisitor Lord, 2 6-man Stormtroop squads, 10 man SM tactical squad and a dreadnaught. . . . Follow on question, is it possible to run a decent DH army without GK, by mixing SM allies with DH HQ and Elites? I quite like the SM equipment (except for the elites), but prefer the DH fluff. You can do just as you said - Inquisitor Lord, Stormtroopers and Tactical Marines. You require two Space Marine Tactical squads in order to field a Space Marine Dreadnought, however. That can be achieved by splitting your 10 man Tactical squad in half, though they will lose their free special weapons and the ability to form Combat Squads upon Deployment that way. If you find you struggle in the game ... Well, don't worry, that's how the Daemonhunters Codex plays. It's hard, but if you can win, it actually earns quite a bit of respect. Paint your box set Marines in Exorcist Chapter colours - their fluff has always stated deep ties to the Inquisition. Alteratively, paint them in Crimson Fist colours - old fluff suggested that they had old connections to the Inquisition also, though I have not seen any new mentions of this so that may have been retconned out. If the fluff holds true, then your models will also be able to work with a standard Space Marine army and with the Pedro Kantor Space Marine special character. All of that is assuming you like fluff of course - you can always do just about anything with fluff. wizard12
you could paint your marines as red scropians as they are almost as devoted to the emperour as grey knight but I don't know if they have special rules (seeing as some of them come from forge world) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/176065-newbie-question-about-dh-and-sm/#findComment-2080906 Share on other sites
