Okay, we need ideas for our Leman Russ Exterminators

Gather round my brothers, we must plan on how we shall keep our beloved LREs! It appears from all the fell rumors that we will not have them in our new codex, so outside of Apoc battles, is there any viable way to keep our beloved battlewagons?

Count as a Predator woth Heavy Bolter side & autocannon turret. Other wise you can ask your oppent in friendly games if your allowed to use the Leman Russ??

 

I know my fellow IW player are doing this with our Basilisk useing a "count as" with the Vindactor/Deflier or asking there oppent if it alright of course paying the pts cost, etc... from what in codex Guards.

Im with the "counts as" predator destructor.

i would use mine as a vindicator.. get the demolisher canon for the LR and remove the sponsons.

Definitely the way to go. Weapons are almost identical (just ignore the extra HB :) ) and you can keep using BS 4.

Remember if your friends allow you to use it as a LRE it has 4 shots now ;)

I have already got my friend's agreement to use it counts as Predator Destructor. It is a bit bigger and therefore more easily targetable by enemy, so should work out fine.

I use it as the Guard version now, with the added special character driver that boosts it to BS 4 (don't have dex here at work). That makes it the closest to what it ever was in our SW dex, slightly more expensive but with the new-and-improved turret gun. But I only do friendly games, and I generally play guys who enjoy a nicely converted mini as much as I do, so they would never deny me the right to use mine.

 

And, I can't stress this enough, IT IS NOT A SUPERBLY EFFECTIVE TANK FOR SW. Letting me spend my 225 (ish) pts on something else would probably not be to their strategic benefit!

 

So, by letting me use my model, we both win.

P.S. And we all have a sincere dislike of letting the fickle nature of GW game design and model allocation dictate us what we can and cannot use (any longer).

It's our stuff, we bought it and paid for it, now get out of our hair and let us play our game, I say.

In the worst case you can still assume that it has just been blown up before the battle and use it as terrain ;)

Haha, true. It also makes an awesomely cool objective - in the sense that if you capture it, you can control it. Watch how everyone scurries to get to it a.s.a.p. So much fun for zero points :D.

i'll keep it as a SW Exterminator (with a little boost in points) for apoc use.
