courage&honor
Okay, this is half rant half help enquiry. Is it just me or have the mail order people at GW gotten to be stupid? Just plain stupid? Do they even participate in any aspect of the hobby? Long story short, anyone have experience with these shoulder pads? http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/...dId=prod1110194 if you have, is that what they look like? Because that is not a wolf, its a lion, and certainly not Blackmane's wolf, GW used to make a Blackmane's shoulder pad, and it did not look like that, it was similar, as it was a wolf in profile, but the wolf had a definitive jaw line almost like a beard, and thew nose had holes like a dog would, so did GW mess up the pic or are they just effing dumb? Thanks for the help guys, I really want to find some of the correct blackmane's shoulder pads. Grimm Blade
I am pretty sure those are wolves, not lions. If you are not happy with those, could you GS your own? Wolf Guard Hengist
I bought the Grey Hunter pads and to be honest I think they are grot crap. The moulds were poor and had to have a lot of cleaning up and they are actually smaller than the standard plastic space marine shoulder pad. My advice would be to wait to see what the new releases bring, its only over a month and half away. TeamLando
That's def. Ragnar's mark, minus the nose (due to the bend) and with some lion-lik fur below the skull (prolly due to the fact that fenrisian wolves are huge). These are like, whjat, 10+ years old? At least, so the quality will probabaly vary. However! I bought the world eater shoulder some months ago, and the totally kicked ass (http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?prodId=prod1110169&rootCatGameStyle= thse, crappy pic, real ones own). Wonderful sculpts. So if you really want some special shoulder pads, I say you order them and try it. Should be bette than it looks. But remember, they wern't sculpted yesterday. They're kinda old. Vodunius
From the looks of it those are mean't to be the old space wolf chapter badge back when they were a codex chapter. http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r155/khromash/swpads.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/176175-help-with-shoulder-pads/#findComment-2082188 Share on other sites
Forseti
If I remember right there used to be GH shoulders from forgeworld, but idk if they still make them. Thought I think they were just pack markings, not company :/ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/176175-help-with-shoulder-pads/#findComment-2082282 Share on other sites
Typical Cricket
I know a guy who made his own shoulder pad designs by taking some really thin plasticard, cutting out the shapes he wanted, and then he soaked them in warm water until they were soft enough to easily bend to the contour of the shoulder pad. Then, he glued them on. I'll see if I can hit him up for some pics. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/176175-help-with-shoulder-pads/#findComment-2082285 Share on other sites
littlbitz
I use those pads on all of my current Great Co. and I don't think they look bad. They aren't really Ragnars mark though, they are indeed closer to the RT era Wolf markings. You can probably get a look at the Pads painted on models in my Gallery (linked in my sig) if you want to take a look. Or if you don't feel like browsing the gallery, I think you can see them in the Pic above... courage&honor
To Vodunius, thank you sir, for those RT era photos. That is exactly what the pad is, and to littlbitz, excellent use of the shoulder pads good sir, I may buy them yet. But if there's one thing I can't stand its being wrong, so I dug through my troll magazine stacks and found my grail http://i877.photobucket.com/albums/ab335/j...h/JamesJunk.jpg that is ragnar blackmane's shoulder pads. Now does anyone know where to get some of those? Or tell those GW people what fools they are and how to get some proper shoulder pads? TeamLando
Oh, whaddaya know, that looks even more like Ragnars logo. Strange, that they've got, or rather had those, and still call these other ones, (with a similiar, although not as simliar as this one) Ragnar's shoulder pads... maybe they too think they look like them enough to call them that xD But with older ones looking better, one wonder's why they don't use them instead. Out of stock, maybe? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/176175-help-with-shoulder-pads/#findComment-2082610 Share on other sites
