Askren
Love the painting, really awesome stuff. But don't Mortifactors have really dark skin? Or, if you subscribe to logic, really pale skin, since they come from a permanent-night world? skarekrow
they sure do, but i figured this was easier to paint, also, people are already commenting on my nice looking chaos force as it is, didnt want them to look more outlandish than they already are. Brother 'Ussell
Love 'em! A brighter shot of the dread please, he looks like he has some great weathering detail but the shadows are washing it out. DrZoidberg42
Wow, outstanding work! Would it be possible for you to share how you did your metal work as well as your yellows? Those are some of the recent yellows I have ever seen and am really impressed that you were able to give it so much depth. skarekrow
deffwolf: yeah im ok, a bit stressed out but i think im fine. drzoidberg: thanks man, i´ll try to describe the easy steps i go through with those two colors. yellow: basecoat p3 khardic flesh (50/50 dwarf flesh/bronzed fleshish), this i then mixed some rackham lahn yellow into (golden yellowish) and kept mixing it up to pure yellow, then i added some white for final highlights. i went over the area and made a wash with p3 umbral umber (kind of scorched brownish but not that red) and did all the recesses and such. then i dusted some mig old rust pigments on it. metals: started off with p3 ironhull grey (not available from gw, but codex grey with some black could do it i guess), shade with p3 umbral umber wash, clean it up with ironhull grey, then add highlights with codex grey, fortress grey and finally white. the most important thing is to try and create a zenithal highlight and keep it. this also got dusted with mig pigments old rust. hope that helps, im not that great at explaining what ive done but if you want some in progress shots my wip is here: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...howtopic=164492 it contains most minis from this army aswell as some other minis. cheers all and thanks Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/176273-my-mortifactors-pic-heavy/#findComment-2095593 Share on other sites
Draakur
Gawd. Damn. Stupid sexy stuff. The chaplain is a work of art. I could just gibber on at length but I'll leave it at "excellent force, truly inspiring and something to be proud of". Thumbs up from me.
